Sweeter Beavers?

Featured Replies

Wondering what, if anything, folks might say is a better bait than a Sweet Beaver. Sour Puss?  Wooly Hawg Craw? Why? Action, Cost, Durability?

How about the longer creature baits over the more stout beaver baits? Prefer one over the other or do you use them each differently? (I don't.) E.G. a Brush Hog over a Beaver and why? Thanks

I call em Beavers but what I am actually fishing the Wolly Hog Craw.

Why? Because some say scent does not matter but I am sold on that YUM stuff. I fish Yum 10 to 1 to the other stuff. I can pick up the Yum stuff around here locally and Sweet Beavers are harder to find.

Action? almost the same

Cost? Yum is cheaper than Beaver

Durability? about the same.....1 to 3 fish and they are done.

There are cheaper beaver knock offs, yes. There are more durable beaver knock offs, yes. But after trying almost all of them, I still go back to the Reaction Innovations ones. The colors are unmatched, and I can't find anything even remotely similar to match the colors I use.

Same here I have tried others but cannot beat the originals

I have had good luck with the sweet beaver, yum wooly hog and the zoom baby brush hog but seem to have the best luck with the smallie beaver. I seem to only be able to use a 2/0 hook with it but have not lost any fish. I do seem to have to replace them after 1 to 2 fish though.

I fish with the beavers and the Gambler ugly otter/ little otter.  The Gamblers have a smaller profile but have more action and are a little cheaper.

I'll take a sweat beaver over a sour puss any day.  Do you really need an explanation?

LMAO  Stole the words right outta my mouth (no pun intended)   :;) ;D

I've always stuck to the R.I. Beaver was usually disatisfied with others that I tried like the Berkely Beast etc. Recently picked up a couple of packs of the Gander Mountain brand, they had a couple colors like Watermelon Candy on sale for a $ 1.97 then another 60% off. Used the 3" a couple of times and I have to say so far I've been impressed. They also had a knockoff very similiar to the Zoom Baby Brash hog with the same pricing in certain colors, I bought a couple of bags of these as well but haven't tried them yet.
