My First Tournament

Featured Replies

Hey guys, so I fished my first tournament yesterday morning. It was on a lake that I had never fished before & I started off with a 2lber in the first 20 mins, after that nothing. I ended up placing last, (a few guys didn't weigh in at all), so I did get on the boards as far as points go. Either way I was ok with it. I know that fishing water that I've never fished before against anglers that have been fishing tournaments for years is ultimately going to make me a better angler. If any of you guys have any suggestions or advice I would appreciate it.

Good Job. You fished, caught fish, and learned some new water. Placing on the leader board is like icing on the cake. Good Luck in your next one!

You didn't place last. The guys with zeros placed last. Keep at it. Find a couple good guys in your club who are willing to share what works and what doesn't.

Every tourney gets better, even if it is a bad day for you. My first tourney sucked! Next two brought in a bigger bag than the tourney before! 2nd to last tourney last yr I got nothing but some bites and one gullet hook, the hubby placed 3rd though. Last tourney nothing at all, which realistically was ok cuz it was cold and raining. Went home early but ready to do it all over again this year, the good days and the bad ones. Very addicting hobby for me! Get out there have a blast and learn something new each time!
