Long arse drive ahead of me we just departed from Mississippi headed to ny. Gps says 20hrs our calculation is more like 14-16 it's 1200miles were doing 80mph that's 15hrs. There's 6 of us were doing shifts of 2 up driving the rest sleeping till we need gas or sooner if driver needs a break then swapping out. Should be a nice adventure.

At lest you have some one with you. I had to do a 14 hour round trip non stop a few years ago. All just for a headliner we need right away for work. I left at 7 am with about three hours of sleep. I Swear I went through a whole 12 pack of dew. Most of that on the way back. About two hours from home. I was sleep deprived and so hoped up on sugar it was not funny. I got home about 9 pm still on a sugar rush.

Yeah u used to run Connecticut to buffalo or Maine every weekend when in school. Most them drives were hoped up on no doze and redbull it wa like legal crack I'd be so wired it's no wonder my heart didn't explode but probably explains why I was only 130lbs soaking wet lol. I had the same concoction when I graduated and dated a girl from there but I was back in ny goin the opposite way then dating a girl from Philly PA short nights blurred by red bull and no doze after 12hr work days.

Heck if I know it was just off the I65N out side of Birmingham they were cheap combos looked like from the 80s but still fishing none the less put a smile on my face. The guys were laughing at me when we first started everytime we drove past water I shot up forehead on the glass scoping it out reading the water.

In my day I just drove nonstop Det to Ft Laud, gas and a whizz every 3 hours and a quick meal every 6, usually around 22-23 hours. Never had a car more comfortable than my 79 coupe de ville elegance, made my MB's feel like a chevette. First time making that drive with my wife convinced me it was time to fly and get a rental car, a one day trip now felt like a week........... I hit the road at 3 am, she liked to leave at 10, she's looking for a john every 45 minutes and no driving after 6, she's checking in she's tired and I'm doing the driving, haha, talk about torture.

Now at 66 I get tired driving an hour.......I need a nap, lol. Been wanting to get up to Sebastion, can't seem to find the energy to drive 2 hours.

Haha yeah I hear ya my wife can't drive anywhere she's gotta pick me up in buffalo 45min from our house it's 2 roads just straight down 63 then get on the 90 and get off at the mall no turns no traffic lights a simple hop on the thru way and get off at the mall. She's already making excuses bout stoping at the rest area and not knowing where she's going lol.

There is one thing I noticed driving down south there are alot of broke down vehicles on the side of the road way more then new york. Probably has to do with no annual inspections like we have up here so ya don't know till it's to late.

Long arse drive indeed. With six drivers? Give this ol' guy a break.

I've driven the 1200 miles from our home in MA to our younger daughter's home in GA in 18 hours with just two dogs to keep me company. Left here at one in the morning, and arrived at her house at seven that evening. Did it without coffee or any of the so called energy drinks.

But there is only one way I can do it. I cannot do it if I have to drive into the night. If I strart driving in the afternoon, I hit the wall around ten at night, and that's as much as I can do. Let me get three or four hours of sleep before midnight or one, and I'm good to go. Just before dawn, I'll start to feel drowsy, so I'll stop for fuel, use the facilities and if there is an open Mickey Ds, I'll get a couple of breakfast sandwiches and an OJ. and continue. Once dawn breaks, it perks me up.

When I get out at her home, I'm stiff as a board. I say hello, take a shower, say good night, and I'm dead to the world.
