Pflueger President Rod/reel Spinning Combo

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever used the Pflueger President Reel/Pflueger President Rod Spinning Combo?

I am thinking of picking one up for $80 but would like some feedback prior to doing so.

What do you think of the overall combo?

It's worth it just for the reel itself. The rod isn't the greatest, most sensitive rod but it's an OK rod. It get's you started. If get the M it will work for weightless worms and wacky.

I have heard that the reels are pretty darn good for the amount of money they cost but haven't heard much info on the rod side of it.

The rods are basically a special deal you get with the reel. The rod will get the job done till you can upgrade.

To me it's one of those I want the reel and need a rod but can't afford both separately so you pay the $20 difference for the combo and the rod makes do till later. But then again who knows you might like it. They definitely change from the older model rod but probably still made the same beside from what I'm looking at their split grips now?

I you need a decent wacky setup the rod will do. I had two different pflueger rod President XT combo and Supreme when they did the specials for the combos. but soon as could I upgraded to better rods.

I know nothing about the rods, but I have a couple of President reels that are excellent values IMO.

I own all Shimano with the exception of one Pflueger President. Hard to beat it for it's price.
