Fishing gloves...

Featured Replies

Well there I was fishing in that brutal weather last Sunday as that NorEaster pounded New England. I had on some crappy gloves and we didnt stay much longer than 4hrs. 30mph wind gusts and a temp of 34°F with driving rain sleet and eventually snow. I have a decent pair of gloves for fishing they are made by Sternns made of fleece. They are fingerless, however have a fold over mitten top to keep the hands warmer when not fishing. Since I do allot of jig fishing sensitivity is a must so big thick gloves wont cut it. I was wondering what you gloves you guys use to keep your hands warm in the colder months while fishing and or hunting.

No problmo. Gloves are important for those of us that continue

to fish through the seasons. I wear cotton gloves when we are

moving, but don't wear them while I'm fishing.

For the past 4 years, I've been using the Windbloc Converta-Mitt from L.L. Bean. Absolutely the best winter fishing glove I've ever used. I have no problem casting or retrieving with these with the mitten part folded back and secured to the velcro tab.

I bring Multiple gloves for the day. Whenever one gets too wet and I feel like my fingers are going to fall off I change gloves. Gloves, Wet or not, are much better than nothing when conditions are real bad.

I worked for five years in a freezer warehouse. I found the biggest problems there and fishing was my hands getting wet more than the cold and I needed to be able to have more feel and dexterity where the thick gloves didn't work out. So I found a type of cheap gardening glove dipped in rubber on the palm side of the glove all the way up and over the finger tips. Keeps my hands dry where they make contact with wet items and just warm enough where the dexterity gained is worth the cold.
