I received the from hooks from Trokar. They are 7/0 flippin hooks. I am not familiar with flippin at all. What would be the best plastic bait to use on a 7/0 flippin hook?

The best plastic for those is that in the can liner of the trash bin.

The 7/0 is such a large diameter hook it blows a HUGE hole on the set. Try it on a piece of paper, then try to get the hook to hold. It won't, it will back out with ease, the barb won't touch a thing. I lost 31 fish one day last year on the 7/0 Flipping hook until I figured it out. Switched to a Gamakatsu and didn't lose one after. We've repeated the same thing many, many times fun fishing. Same thing with the mag swimbait hooks in the larger sizes.

Don't get me wrong, Trokar is the only hook I fish in 1/0-4/0 sizes in Round Bend, EWG, and Finesse. The larger sizes, however, are trash.

Big worms or big creature baits, even lizards. Make sure you set like you mean it, 'cause that's a big bait/big hook. As for the hook falling out, keep a tight or at least semi-tight line, and that won't happen.

I wouldnt waste them, I just wouldn't use em for flipping

I use a 4/0 or 5/0 for flipping (some 5/0 aren't as big as others)

But I would use them big 7/0s for a 10" worm tho, I like straight shank hooks for worms, and on longer line that is a mono or flouro (typical worm lines) you will get less of a blown out whole compared to short line hookset with braid

I beg to differ on that one. They jumped off, they turned off, tight line situations and we were losing fish. I've never lost so many fish as the result of a hook. Heck I've never lost so many fish in general.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one. If you get that hook through the jaw and keep a taut line, they're not throwing it. More likely, and I've had this happen alot, it that you're not getting that giant gaff of a hook all the way through the plastic and the jaw. That's alot of hook/plastic/jaw to get through, but it's like a gaff once you get it through. As long as there's some pressure, they're not going to shake it. I say this from fishing that size hooks (both trokar and gammy) barbless for pike and lmb. Sometimes you have to tex-pose it to make sure you get a good set.

This is exactly what I was going to say. A 7/0 flipping hook is almost useless.
