Old Frog Lure Id

Featured Replies

I have had this guy for a while. One of the legs finally came off his twin brother, leaving me with just one. I don't remember the brand name or even where I got them. Anybody recognize this guy? The Live Target frog is for size reference. Thanks.

Looks like an old Burke Frog with the front legs removed.

Not trying to hi-jack thread, but I cant believe a lure company is not making that frog today!!! great looking frog, I would buy that in a heart beat.

Couldn't find anything like it on eBay. Maybe a Snag Proof Original Frog could be an alternative.

That one looks awesome.

I had a metal frog that the rear legs moved forward and rearward when you cranked it in the early 60's. I fell one night on a rock getty and all my stuff went into the rocks and water. I lost it.

I have googled and looked on ebay, and not seen any that look like it. It may have been a local or regional product, I have no clue. I wish I had 4 more of 'em, though. Plenty heavy to cast with a bailcaster too, not like light the other frogs when I bought it.

If I had to guess, I'd say its an older Burke or Snag Proof product, but I'm not sure at all.

your killin me with this one wookie! iv'e been researching ever since your post. i had one for years,i think it also came in a brown/yellow leg color..nice,heavy foam frog that looked real natural in the water..exposed belly-button type weight? I can even picture its packaging!!

that yellow leopard spotted is a booyah just saying not sure of bottmom one but im actually gonna start making frog mold like the bottom frog to make my own baits...

Bottom frog is an old Renosky before they changed to the front legs and rattle eyes. That might be one of the very earliest.

Nope not Renosky.....it's a Burke. Just sold one in a lot on Ebay.

Amazingly I didn't actually catch that many fish on it. It's amid-80's model made by Burke before Creme bought them out. The grasshopper is a Burke also. I think the Spook and Rat are Mann's. All are mid 80's though.

Thanks catchnm! Mine works really well, I had to add a trailer hook because the rubber is so stiff it gets in the way. I just barely stick the point in the tips of one of the toes to keep it weedless. Mine also has a white belly, maybe that made a difference.
