Rod Application Help

Featured Replies

I have an 8'6 medium action Lamiglas spinning rod and no idea what kind of techniques it would work well with. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Carolina rig maybe? Wow being 8'6 would be nice if was a MH instead of M. What action is the rod? Moderate, Fast?

Looking up that rod and if it's the G1000 it's a Salmon/Steelhead rod

G1307 8' 6" 2 pc 3/8-3/4 lure wt 8-12 line wt 1 handle Fast action Med power Medium Spin retail $280

Is that the one or you got or is the M/Mag or the Pro?

That kind of length in a bass rod: dragging tubes on main lake points in deep water.

Also could be a good finesse/light carolina rig rod. You could also work small jigs in deep water with a rod that length...those would be the most logical applications...also light duty cranking when you need to cast a mile

Lastly if you're a shore fisherman it would help you get a cast out far into rivers or smaller lakes.

I see you're in California, how far from the ocean? I use an 8' med Tsunami with a 3000 spinning reel for light surf casting, when I target fish I think that will run 5-20#, I have no problem using 1 oz lures, even thought the rod is rated for 3/4 oz. I don't think I would use for bass at all.

I live about twenty miles from the coast, that there is a good idea.
