I've been trying to find lake maps on the internet but I can't find any good topo maps. Where do you guys get yours? Anywhere online you can get a decent one for free?

catt posted a couple of web sites on here in another thread, I am not sure where that was but they looked really interesting.
The best place I have found for lake maps are either local bait shops or where I find the best ones are at the local state park offices.

A topographical map will not show you structure or contours of the body of water. A hydro map will show you the contours of the water and structure. You can view these in PDF format and download them by quads on the ISGS.org website. Hydro maps are the most useful to fishermen.

We are very lucky in Virginia as we have GMCO map company that produces outstanding maps of the major lakes and rivers.
You can Google GMCO maps and ask George if he knows of any map makers in your geographical area since he is in the map making world.
Otherwise, the info above is a great "map" for obtaining data on the lakes and rivers you fish, if they are available.

This is a great site, it cost 15 bucks a year for all features including contours. It has contours for all the big lakes, and a lot of smaller city lakes. You will be surprised at how many lakes it has contours for. Check out the free stuff, and watch the video and decide if you want it. I have used it to plan a few trips already this year.

Check out a Bass Pro or a Gander MTN. they sell good maps of lakes in your area.

Yes, I also use this site. You can mark spots and or structure without posting publicly.

If so, I'm not aware of any hardcopy maps equal to Navionics hydrographic charts.
In fact, a surprising number of hardcopy charts are cloned from Navionics cartography.
With regard to "Find Your Water", I hope no one is actually relying on their contour lines.
I'm currently conferring with Brian Welde of Angling Technologies, and though they show a willingness
to improve, I've found uncountable inaccuracies on all their charts (e.g. 5' contour line bisecting Bird Island).
