You may of seen my thread earlier this week about the oyster toad fish that I caught earlier this week. I am in Sunset Beach, NC on vacation this week and I have spent some of my time fishing. I thought the oyster toad was weird enough, but that all changed as I was fishing off the pier tonight. I caught this beauty!

Apparently it's called a Cutlass Fish or a Ribbon Fish. I caught it on a piece of shrimp.

Haha yea man! It was a very shiny fish! I wish I could of gotten a better picture of its head. It had nasty looking teeth, so I made sure I had a good grip on him with my towel.

We get those Ribbonfish in the fall, all over the place and they do destroy lures, a real pain. Some people use them for Kingfish bait.

Sir Snook-

I caught 2 trumpetfish while I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii (I have no pics, sadly, as I was fishing alone and this was pre-camera phone days). When I got back home I spoke with my friend's wife, who is a native of Hawaii, and she said that was about the only species of fish her brothers still had not added to their long list of catches...and I catch 2 my first time there.

Sorry for the hijack...

Ribbon fish as far as I'm concerned are a real annoyance. The put up little if any fight, they total destroy lures, no real food value, except for bait. When they invade the area, I leave and go bluegill fishing.
