With a little slack, snap the rod tip back a bit. Do that once and let it sit for a few seconds then repeat. Vary your cadence up like 1 pause 2 pause 1 pause 3 pause and the fish will lit you know what they want. I have had a lock of luck with the on the outside of weed edges and over submerged trees/logs. Also remember not to hook set when you see the fish break water, wait until you feel the fish.

I dont think there is a wrong way to use one. You will have to just play around and vary your presentation to what the fish want. Swarrin has am important point on hook setting. It's tough not to set the hook when you see a fish hit it but wait until you feel him then rip it!
