  1. Personally I keep my soft plastics in the original bags. I keep the ones I use the most in a binder and the rest I keep in 1 gallon Zip lock bags. I separate the Zip locks by type. I keep my hooks, sinkers, and other terminal tackle in Plano 3771s. I separate my crankbaits by how deep they run. Each box has a depth range written on it. Now I have three or four empty boxes that I use when someone asks me to go fishing with them. I do a little research and in a few hours can have a couple of them packed with a variety of lures that might work that day. I keep one binder packed with my "go to" soft plastics at all time. This way I can limit how much space I take up in someone elses boat.
  2. What kind of jig are you using. I fish alot of grass and I use a grass jig. It is a jig that has a pointed head and will punch through the grass very well. I tried verious brands of grass jigs and have found some are OK but only a couple work best for me.
  3. My dad is a western trout fisherman. He taught me to tie flies when I was 8 or 9 years old. I love to fly-fish for bass and bluegill. One of my goals in life is to win a bass tourney on a fly rod.
  4. I usually get out 3 to 4 days a week. Sometimes for only a few hours.
  5. Nothing to say but WOW.
  6. Ouch, Been there.
  7. That's how I do it and it is legal. It works great. I use a Spot Remover Jig at the bottom.
  8. Man those look great. Forget waiting for my wife to make me a scrapbook. I think I'll give on a try.

  10. The times of the year that I have had the most success on dams are. During a winter warming trend. The fish are in the deep water in the winter and if the shallow water warms up just a little they will move into it to feed untill it cools off again. Fish around rocks first. They will warm up faster in full sun. During the spawn. The largest fish in a small lake will tend to spawn around the deepest water. So the dam is the first place I look. During the shad spawn. Shad will spawn along the Rip-Rap on a dam. This is a bass magnet. During the summer when the crawfish are moulting. You will know this is happening when you catch a bass and their nose and somtime their tails are bloody.
  11. A F150 can pull it but it has to work to hard to do it. The new Toyota Tundra has no problem pulling them.
  12. Read this by the one and only Low Budget Hookers. http://bassresource.com/fishing/getting_afloat.html I have a deck on my 14ft jon boat. I love it. I am going to raise it up a few inches this winter. It's not hard to do. And there are plenty of resources out there.

  14. Welcome to the family.
  15. It's all about your profile. I did a little experiment a few years ago. I grabbed my dive goggles and snorkle and started looking up from under water. "The Bass Eye View" The boat dissapeared only a few feet away but I could still see my fishing partner standing in the boat at three times the distance. It does depend on the water clearity but when sight fishing a good rule is, "If you can see them, they can see you." When I see a fish the first thing I do is duck.
  16. Yes it does. I love to sight fish and I pay particular attention to what I am wearing. If you are wondering what to wear just turn around and look at what is behind you. Try to match that. When I am shore fishing I wear camo clothes because of all the trees that are close to the lake. When I am in my boat I try to keep a low profile and I wear a gray t-shirt or a sky blue jacket. I once fished head to head with a friend of mine in a friendly trout fishing bet. He was much more experenced then I was. I followed him down the creek for an hour and spanked him. He followed me for the next hour and I still beat his tail. He couldn't figure out the difference untill I pointed out that the white cowboy hat on his head was like a warning flag and I was wearing a green one. He took the hat off and started catching fish.
  17. I started in Feburary with some goals. A few of them were: Go fishing at least two days a week. Practice flipping and pitching every day. Catch a 10lb limit 80% of the time. Don't get skunked. Be competitive in tournaments by July 2006. Seven months and 75 days of fishing later. I have placed in the top 5, six out of six tournaments. I have caught 10lb limits 65% of the time. I have been skunked only once. My best limit was 29.5lbs. My biggest fish was just short of 8lbs. I missed the Georgia state record for the Redear Sunfish by only 11oz. And I introduced 14 kids to fishing.
  18. Boy this is a can of worms, but very entertaining. I didn't have to leave my home for a week to find the disaster. It almost happend rite here. ;D
  19. You mean pro anglers. I think that the rescent spike in growth of bass fishing as a sport has been great. I don't think it will go down anytime soon, but I think in might level out to a point in a few years. As long as we continue to introduce people into the sport and stay willing to share what we know. It will always be around.
  20. Welcome to the site. This is a great way to bring in some nice bass. Yes, as nwga said, it is against tournament rules. But when fishing for fun why not. I fish a few trolling motor only lakes and I have a rod holder mounted to the back corner of my boat just for trolling. I put a medium diving crankbait on and just let it go behind the boat. I have picked up several very large bass this way. It's a great way to find the bass. When you catch one, there are usually a few more in that area. That's when I would grab a Carolina Rig and fan cast the area.
  21. Welcome Javelin and Froggy. You will soon find that this site brings bass fishing to a new level of enjoyment. There are some great people on here. This can become very addicting. Remeber to stop every few hours to ice your elbow and shoulder to prevent the computer cramps. ;D
  22. Boy this is an old post. Just an observation.
  23. My point exactly.
  24. The majority of people seem to think that the way the worm is hooked weedless is T-Rigging it. This actually is called a weedless worm. The basic T-Rig consists of a weedless worm with a worm weight above it. It can have the weight pegged or left to slide freely on the line. It can have one or as many beads as you want between the sinker and the hook.
