  1. SOUTHERN IDAHO!!! WOO HOO!!! I love it up there. My Grandpa is from Blackfoot. I used to take trips with my dad out to Henry's Fork to trout fish every summer. He used to guide the Snake in the early 50's. Man those were the days. I agree with everyone. A baitcaster is very frustrating to start off with. Now a list of tackle to add to what has already been said. Hooks- sizes 3/0, 4/0, and 5/0 Gamakatsu Extra Wide Gap worm hooks. Sinkers- sizes 3/16, 1/4, and 3/8oz bullet sinkers any brand. Swivels- small barrel swivels Soft plastics are great for bank fishing they are cheep and you won't break the bank if you have to break one off.
  2. I don't have any idea about red lips. But bloody lips are usually signs of bass feeding on crawfish. I noticed this last year prefising for a tournament and cleaned house with a YUM Crawtube during the tourny.
  3. My fishing log tells me it was 583 but there were a few days that I didn't log in. I had several 30 fish days and a few 40's. But I am most proud of the fact that I only got skunked seven times.
  4. That's great JT. I sure missed them. It was one of my regular reads.
  5. RW you are a rare individual. If the world had more guys like you just think of what kind of place it would be.
  6. You are in the right place to learn what you need to know. Just go to the top of the page and click on Fishing Articles and start reading what is there. There is not another place on the web that has more information about bass fishing than what you will find here.
  7. Man I am not sure. I fish 25 small lakes and 5 big lakes on a regular basis. .
  8. Russ that's just awsome. I am going to try that on a few old ponds I fish. Thanks for the Idea.
  9. If it's a problem. It's a great one to have.
  10. I think that's great. He is a great guy and he opens up fishing to a whole other type of young fisherman. They can hate him all they want. I have talked in depth with him on several occations and I think he is a stand up guy.
  11. My father started me off early with trout fishing. But I didn't start bass fishing untill my best friend Adam (aka Doghouse) took me fishing 15 years ago.
  12. When people ask me this same question about deer my answer is always the same. "You must assume they are the smartest thing out there. If you do that your successes will outnumber your failures." Wether a bass is 2lbs or 23lbs they should be considered the smartest fish in the water.
  13. Here's some more. http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/content/displaycontent.asp?txtDocument=117&txtPage=10
  14. Here is a link to one that can be made with PVC and Cable. It works great and will last a long time. http://georgiawildlife.dnr.state.ga.us/content/displaycontent.asp?txtDocument=117&txtPage=3
  15. I would go with the wider boat. I would also go longer to a 16 foot if you can. I have a 1444 and It works just fine. I just put an elevated casting deck on it and it is still very stable. I do wish I had a 16ft boat when it comes to fishing with friends.
  16. The first few chapters of an old book by John Weiss covers this and has photos and illistrations on it. The book is titled Advanced bass fishing. I can be found on amazon for less than 2 bucks. It is one of my favorites.
  17. I don't know about the fight. But the reason we like to stock F1 bass is because the Northerns are more agressive and the Florida's grow faster. The combonation of the two makes a great fish.
  18. Mike, Your boat turned out great. I can't wait to see the speed you get from those motors.
  19. I went back an looked at his past posts. This guy was doggin folks on his first post. I think he has joined the wrong site.
  20. Not to offend any of you young honest guys. But thegreatestfisher falls in that age of guys we usually have problems with. (16-20yrs old) He just made everything he will ever say on this site useless.
  21. Yes, yes, yes. Old tree stumps are great. They usually have exposed roots that give bass and other fish plenty of places to hide. The conditions just depend on several things. Depth, proximity to deep water, fish activity. Fish could be on stumps any time of the year. I have this one stump that I have caught several fish on. I caught fish in the Spring, Summer, Fall and I caught one on Monday.
  22. I am looking into getting a good handheld scale and having it certified by the Agricultural Dept. But if I catch one when I am by myself I would call everyone I know to come down and witness the weight. My goal is to catch one in the top 50 in my state.
  23. I have a reel good tripod that I got years ago. I just bunjee it in the back of the boat. I lock the camera on and it is always ready. With the 12 second timer I can take all the pictures I want. My avater was taken this way.
  24. I can finally breath again.
  25. From Jan 1, 05 to Dec 31, 05, I fished 183 days.
