Senko rip offs on ebay
This is so funny. The guy that sells those 50 pack Sinko knock-offs is my neighbor. I found this out by buying some hooks from him. Instead of walking down the street and handing them to me. He charged me 5 bucks shipping and mailed them to me for 60 cents. I can't wait to tell him what is being said about his coveted baits. But he is funding his full time fishing career off these baits. That's what stinks.

finding active fish
When we (humans) go from a dark area to a bright area our eyes constrict to protect the inside of the eye. A bass's eyes don't do this. They are fixed. They don't really like being in the bright sun so they look for a way to get out of the light. They will either look for shade in the shallows or go deeper to where there is lower light penetration. The exeption to this is during the spawn. Remember that this is only one of a whole book of thing that dictate where the will be. Let me recommend a book that has helped me with being able to consistently find fish. It is called Advanced Bass Fishing by John Weiss. It was written back in the early 80's so some of the information about technology is out-dated but it is great. You can find it for fewer than 10 bucks on Amazon. It is great if you want to learn to fish deep water.

Ranger 185 VS
They are great but look for a used one. It will save a boat load of cash. Pun intended.

Today's Poll
The 5% that say this site is worse are those that fish tournys every weekend, fish by themselves during the week, think all fishing information is a secret and can't stand the folks share everything they know. (I have a neighbor like this.)

FISH FINDER ON OR OFF?
This doesn't have anything to do with largemouth. But, I know some guys that when fishing for Hybrid or Striper take a broom handle and bang on the bottom of there boat over and over again. This makes the baitfish nurvous and confused and turns the bass on. I couldn't believe it worked. I think I'll put that fish finder off theory to the test.

Pros and their sponsors
I have a good friend who is sponsored by Lucky Craft and I know it took him at least 3 years of very hard work to even get noticed by that company. Many of the top companies are very particular about who they sponsor even if they aren't sending a check.

HEELLLLLLLLLPPPP!!!!!!AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
Yea, My father-in-laws cat had her kittens way up in the front of his boat one year. The sun came out and heated the boat up. Two of the kittens died and he didn't find out until he could smell them. He had to remove all the carpet out of that part of his boat. He solves the problem by getting a fitted boat cover and using a bunch of extra bungee cords to keep it tight.

Homemade soft plastics
Del-Mart makes great molds that are worth the money. Other great sites are: http://www.lurecraft.com http://www.tackleunderground.com (great for information on lure making) Pooring your own plastics is fun but it won't save you any money.

post spawn help
Hip, Have you been fishing Varner or CE. I have had tons of luck on both with a finess worm on a stand-up jig. I've been finding them in 5-8ft of water on points of land and of cover. When the sun gets high I head for the brush and the shade. I flip to every thick peice of cover I can find. Shoot me an E-mail and I'll see if I can get down there. I am prefishing for the Easter Seals Tourny on Clark Hill all week but I'll be free the next week.

Daytime cruisers! What to use?
Cruisers are one of my favorite fish to catch. I do it two different ways. Use something that makes very little splash. Toss it out in front of them and jerk it a couple of times, makeing sure they can see it. You can also use something like a jerk bait or even a rattle trap. Cast out in front of them and pull it past them fairly fast causing a reaction strike. Stay low in the boat and try not to let them see you and you should bring in a few.

Setting the hook?
Skeeter6598 nailed it. The only exception I would add is when you are fishing a worm on mono and the fish hits it way out there on a long cast. Then I would sweep it due to mono's stretch. A sweep set gives you that distance you need without falling out of the boat. There are very few other methods of fishing plastics where a sweep is the norm. One that comes to mind is the Slider Method. In short it is slowly swimming a short worm on a Slider Jig with very light tackle.

wireless (miniature) fish finder
I haven't used it personally, but I have talked to several people who have. Most of them said it is only good for telling you the depth and finding some structure and only if the water is calm. That is why I don't have one.

Quick Reference for dummies!!
We all had to start fishing before we caught fish. Rattlinrogue is rite. Read everything you can. If you are like me and have trouble remembering all that stuff when you get on the water. Read one or two articles and take them out on the water and put them to the test. Don't try to learn it all at once. I never had anyone to teach me how to fish. I learned it all on my own. It took forever. All of you beginners are lucky to have the Internet during this early stage in you fishing. This site is the best place to start.

Best Bass Boats
I just helped my fishing partner break in his new Ranger Z20 and I love it. You should at least try one if you want to spend that much money.

advise please
Yea I heard about that one. I think they weighted it on a scale that only measured in 8oz incraments. The witness didn't know anything about fishing so it wasn't counted. That is too bad. That person would have made alot of $$$$. This might have been a diffrent one though.

advise please
22lbs 4oz out of Montgomery Lake Georgia in 1932. If you have trout, that will probably be the main forage for the big fish. So try to fish with anything that mimicks a rainbow trout. Like Bassmaster said, fish humps or any change in the contor of the bottom. ie rock piles, drop offs, ditches and so on.

close the bass
Yea Reb, those post cold front bass are tough. Bluebird skys and high wind don't help either.

Fishin' in the Rain
I don't have a go-to bait when it starts to rain. I just start fishing faster with a more erratic retrieve.

It's Official..My fishing sucks!
Getting skunked is just part of fishing. We have all heard the saying, "If you caught fish every time it wouldn't be called fishing it would be called catching.". When I just can't seem to catch a fish I force myself to stop fishing and start looking. I spend allot of time zigzagging around staring at my fish finder. I look for any structure that has baitfish close by and fish it. If I don't find fish there I cruise the shallows with my polarized glasses on, looking for fish. Not just bass, any fish. What I am looking for is an increase in the number of fish in the shallows. This tells me several things. Mainly that the oxygen and ph levels in that area are good and the fish are active. If I don't see any bass I will turn and head out into deeper water. I will fish any structure and cover I see in the general area. If the fish are there and they are active, they will usually let me know. No mater how "fishy" an area looks, if the conditions aren't rite, the fish won't be there. I always tell myself, "You can't catch fish, if the fish aren't there.

Mini Bass Boat
I guide out of my 14ft Jon Boat. Most of the lakes I fish are electric motor only or have access to only small boats. My boat is great. I have a carpeted floor, live well, and pedestal seats. When I am on a electric motor only lake I have two trolling motors on the back hooked up to buttons in the front so I can control everything without going to the back of the boat. I steer with the front trolling motor. It fishes great. There are so many things you can do to a jon boat. Just use your emagination and have fun. You shouldn't have to spend a ton of cash.
