  1. I know how you feel I just painted up some prototype hard baits and its killing me not to be able to show them. They have top secret designs to them so I cant show certain parts of them until I am ready to release. I sure do like painting with real airbrush paint though.
  2. well lets see the big baits you painted! That Bagley shows painting skill.
  3. Ebay. the equipment you will need will cost you to get started. Molds, lead pot, hooks,paint.etc. all those things add up quickly. If you watch Ebay you can find deals on all that stuff. My advise to you is DO NOT get one of those lead pots with tha handles. They are horrible and for just a little more you can get a bottom pour lead pot that is SOOOOO much better.
  4. You are correct sir. Out here we have some Tilapia in the desert and they are Mozmbeik(sp) The adult males get realy dard and the adult females are colorful with greens and blues but when they are small they are silvery with light bars. My Tilapia pattern is a generic juvenile pattern
  5. Thats neat! Thanks for posting 4Biz. Are you gonna mary that girl yet!
  6. yes 2 and 3's can take the bait no problem but why would you want to target them. I am betting you have bigger fish than you think you do. They are just hiding from you.
  7. Man you guys just put a big ol smile on my face Thanks for the kind words!!!
  8. I shouldnt have said he would be sure. It all depends on how strong the case is. If its an obvious onfringement and he feels he will win the case he will take them to court. Jason from Castaic also has a lawyer who works on a large percentage and no out of pocket. My point is the little guy can and does win in cort against the big guys. This is why most of the big companies make enough changes to not get sued.
  9. The Okuma 7'6 xhvy is the stiffest rod for bass that I know of. It will throw a 1lb bait. It is WAY overkill. In general the Okuma 7'6 models ave a little hveir then the Okuma 7'11 models. A great all around stick would be the Okuma 7'11 heavy. This will cover almost everthing. Ita a little heavy for my baits and a little light for the big 10-12 inch baits but it will work for them. If the biggest bait your going to throw is my gill then I would go with the 7'11 or 7'6 med hvy. Like 4Biz said, the ratings are diferent with swimbait rods. They are much stronger than a normal bass rod.
  10. I dont need to know the judge. I dont copy!!!!!! Also you dont need to have millions to beat a huge company. Castaic sued Storm over an infringment and won. Storm is owned by Rapala one of the largest companies in the industry. Castaic is tiny comparred to them. Its not how much money you have to defend your patent ,its how strong your case is. My attorney would obviously not take a case he wasnt sure he was going to win. As for the Hudd I agree, its not impessive at all. Niether are my baits. After all they are just rubber fish. Funny thing is they sure seem to work REEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAL good at fooling huge bass. Lucky craft and Loomis arent impresive either. Heck Tritons and Rangers are no better than a row boat. ;D ;D Hey to each his own. swimbaits and their price tags arent for everybody. I totaly understand. It all comes down to why we fish. we all have our reasons. As for the Basstrix, it saddens me that they have been ripped off so badley. I knew it was coming but It still sucks. Hey at least Bruce made a fortune before the thieves got here.
  11. There is soooooo much ignorance on patents its frightning. WOW. First off I kringe every time I hear sombody say you cant patent it because its nature. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! you can patent and or protect anything that is original. If not the intire thing then certain aspects of it. A patent is worth the money if you have it and you KNOW your idea is critical to the design. Example. Larew patented salt in plastics. Very defendable and not easy to get around. A shape is easy to defeat. just change it a little. It all comes down to how hard it would be to get around the patent. Not how much it costs. I have an atorney that will sue if sombody infringes on something I have protected and it wont cost my anything out of pocket. He will get a large percentage but thats fine with me. Also patents arent the only way to protect something. A 5% change is a bad idea if your thinking about coping a protected design. I would make it a leqast 20%. As for sassy shad.....Basstrix little tube swimbaits have been around for about 2 years and have won 100x's more money that the sassy shad and its been around forever but of course they are better. All us trophy hunters must be stupid to spend $20-$100 on a bait that catches fish like this I havent heard of Huddleston either. I think they make spinnerbaits?
  12. The Scrounger has been around at least 20 years before the original chatterbait. It also has a diferent purpose. It is used to giva a soft plastic bait that a wobbling action. Use it on a basic swimbait, fluke, or grub. Dont know how well they work on freshwater bass but ther couldnt be more proven on saltwaterbass. That rubber bill does not effect hook ups.
  13. I agree with Hookemdown. Bizz Mickey sure makes a pretty bait!
  14. Of course I use them. I dont know why anybody who was curious wouldnt buy a pack. There $4. I have zero afiliation with them, I just like the ozmo. My second favorite creature is a Berkley bait. I think its a saber tail bug or something like that. It is also a very strong bait. I would never recomend something that I havent personaly used and had success with.
  15. I use the natural toned ones. olives, greens, browns. They are agreat night bait too.
  16. No I wasnt talking about that Defrecco fish(that was actualy a world class fish). I was talking about the Trews. Dont you guys remember? It was about 3 years ago that the Trew lady and her son cought a big bass around 15lbs and took one pic of it with her sticking it out as far as as she could and submitted it as a new WR. She claimed it was 22 1/2lbs. The IGFA rejected them. It was obvious to everybody who knows big fish that they were frauds. The fish is NO WHERE NEAR 20lbs let alone 22lbs. It actualy makes me mad when I see scum like this pulling this cr@p http://www.flwoutdoors.com/article.cfm?id=141101
  17. Here is my favorite creature and its not expencive http://www.lunkercity.com/ozmo.html
  18. You want to try and pull the bait out of the fishes mouth! That means the bait is actualy moving and you can bury the hook. Bass can get a heck of a grip on a big piece of rubber. Forbizz is correct but it is possible that you are not lubing your bait which makes it much harder to get a good swimbait hook set. FishChris is the only succsesfull guy on the planit to use braid and catch big swimbait bass. His numbers would probably greatly increase if he switched to fluoro or mono. Braid is the worst for swimbaits!
  19. I am currently overwhelmed with those stupid minnows! I sent samples to 2 stores and they bought 4 months worth of production before I realy started to produce them so I cant even take orders from other stores right now. I realy like Green top, they are a great account but for now until I get caught up I am not showing any of my stores. Help is coming soon though!
  20. you should see my cue collection! I used to play.
  21. You can fish my gills and bass on a heavy flippin stick you most certainly wont need anything more than a 6'6 medium hvy for the little shad
  22. The shad are much more labor and will cost more but not a lot more. BTW Biz I have not forgotten about you. Eventualy when I have a working proto I will get one to you
  23. Read Randall's post, he shows it the same way I like it rigged but with a difernt hook. It is verry similar though. Here is a pic of how the bait looks rigged with a Falcon 4/0 with a 1/4 ounce weight. Notice how you dont see much hook or weight, its all hidden and the bait is weedless.
  24. the minnows will never be pre rigged. They are designed for the fisherman to rig them how ever they want to. I do however recomend a weighted 4/0 falcon hook in 1/8th -1/4th ounce. However you can rig them however you like but if you want to swim them they will need at least an 1/8 ounce of weight. I had some prototype shad NOT MINNOWS, BUT SHAD that look just like little thredfin shad. I brought some to the bass-a-thon but they were a little rough. Perfectly functional but not perfecty clean. I will be working to get them nice and pretty and then I will oficialy release them. THEY ARE THE SHAD THAT COME PRERIGGED. I am not mentioning this to advertise. I only bring this up to clear up the confusion. There are 2 diferent baits, shads and minnows. The Minnows will NEVER come prerigged and the shad will have the internal leadhead with the belly loop for an added treble hook. Two totaly diferent baits that do not look the same.
  25. not the minnows. They have a belly slit so a weighted hook will fit up inside and the bait can be rigged weedles and you hardley see any hook. It just looks like a little fish swimming
