"Fish TV" question
My wife got me a "Fish TV" for Christmas. For those of you who aren't familiar with Fish TV it is an underwater camera and monitor that is designed to allow you to see fish and underwater structure. She just gave it to me today, because she couldn't wait. I don't know if any of you have used one of these, or if you have heard anything about them. I checked the BPS website, and there haven't been any reviews written on it. I'm excited to use it to explore structure and look at the surface composition of my lake. The water is relatively clear, so if it works at all, I would think it would work on the lake that I fish the most. My questions are: Have you used one? Did you like it? Have you heard anything about them? Thanks. Here's a link: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102310____SearchResults

Bass Fishing in Brackish Water
From what I can tell the trout killers look a lot like flukes and the reds killers look a lot like swim senkos with the tail dyed. Is that accurate? I have flukes and swim senkos, but I don't have those other baits.

Bass Fishing in Brackish Water
I'm in Bay Minette. My brother live in Foley. We're going to be on Fish River. I live in Tennessee and I've been fishing in lakes for smallies and large mouths. I'm hoping to get ahold of some reds. But I don't care. I'm just looking forward to a good trip. Thanks.

Need help own how to catch this pig
Don't wait until you can see her. You know the general area of where she is. Spend about 30 minutes casting blindly. Primarily because has less of a chance of actually seeing you. Also, have you tried down sizing your bait? Have you tried throwing brightly colored lizards? When you can see her, try to anticipate where she is going to swim rather than dropping the bait right on top of her head, or pulling it right in front of her face. Cast it out about 10 feet in front of her then let it sink and tighten your line but don't do anything else. When she gets closer to the bait, begin to lightly bounce it. Try to get her attention without startling her. Another thing... is the water really clear? If so, can she see your fishing line? Anyway, those are just some of the first thoughts that come to my mind. Good luck.

Bass Fishing in Brackish Water
Are there any special considerations I should be aware of before fishing in brackish water? I'm going down to the Alabama gulf coast and I will be fishing in a brackish river. The river is known to have both Large Mouth Bass and Red Fish. We are going to be targeting the bass, but certainly wouldn't mind catching some reds as well. I've heard you will often catch reds when bass fishing and catch bass when red fishing there. Is there anything else you can tell me about fishing in brackish water that is different from pure fresh water? For example, other types of bait that work well, or anything that definitely doesn't work... Thanks guys!

carp and bass...
The bass are on bed here in Tennessee right now. The carp were spawning here about a week and a half ago. I noticed a lot of bass were staging in the same area as the carp were spawning then. But the bass here are bedded deeper than the carp were. I don't know if that helps you at all or not. I can also tell you that I caught a couple of small bucks in the area of the spawning carp, but neither of them were keepers, and I didn't see any large bass in the area. I can't say for sure if the spawning carp effected the bass fishing in any way, but there were definitely a few small ones in the area...

Red Line - Opinion
I considered buying some red line today, but I decided not too. The water in my lake is varies from clear to green stain. My rationale for NOT buying the red line is that I have been using green line, and it has been working. So my opinion on the red line is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Chances are, if you aren't catching fish on green line, you aren't going to catch 'em on red either.

UFC 83
well, that was good. Serra's conditioning (or lack there-of) was disappointing. GSP was in incredible shape as always, and he simply exhausted Serra and "took the fight" as he said. GSP is clearly the best welterweight fighter, and possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Other fights tonight were mediocre. Lutter simply quit against Franklin. Kaleb Starnes does not belong in the UFC octagon, and I'm sure after this performance we won't see him in there again. Bisping looked great against an inferior opponent at 185 lbs. I think Bisping and Lyoto Machida may be the next fighters to get a chance at Anderson Silva. UFC 84 has a great looking card. My favorite fighter, BJ Penn, is fighting Sean "muscle head (roid rage)" Sherk for the Lightweight championship. If BJ wins he may have to fight Kenny Florian in defense of the title. He may also move up to 185 to challenge GSP. Also, Lyoto Machida is going to fight Tito Ortiz (and I hope Machida destroys him... I'm confident that he will). And, "The Dean of Mean" will be fighting "The Axe Murderer." That should be an action-packed fight to say the least. I think it's safe to say, someone is going to get KO'd!

UFC 83
You guys are right about Serra being loud and obnoxious, but he is NOT over-rated. In fact, the reason he beat GSP in the first fight is because he was so under-rated. Serra is an excellent BJJ tactician, he also has very good stand-up and wrestling. I do think GSP is a better athlete, and probably more well-rounded as a fighter. I think GSP will win, but I still have an immense amount of respect for Serra's ability.

alternator problem???
So I need to have the battery fully charged before it can be checked accurately? I took it to Auto Zone today to have it checked, but I didn't charge it prior to taking it. They said the battery looked good, it just looked like it needed to be charged. I'm not 100% sure if I have an alternator or not. My motor is a 1999 150 hp Mercury XR6. Maybe I'm a dumba... for jumping the battery off the trolling battery. I didn't know it would hurt anything. Now that I know, I won't do it again. No, I don't think anyone is telling me "falsehoods." But as I said before, the VERY LITTLE BIT of mechanical knowledge I thought I had, made me think I was safe, because there is a fuse about 3 inches off of my positive battery terminal on my main power cable. I definitely don't want to tear up my boat. I guess now I'm wondering, if I have torn up my regulator (whatever that is), what does that mean? Am I just going to have to start charging my cranking battery after each trip, like I do my trolling batteries? I'll take a voltmeter with me next time I go fishing to see what it says.

alternator problem???
I'm not a mechanic and I have no idea what half the stuff you said means. I know I have a fuse on my main power wire, so I don't see how jumping off of a trolling motor battery is going to tear anything up. Wouldn't the fuse prevent anything bad from happening?

alternator problem???
for the second time this spring, i have had a dead cranking battery when i got to the boat ramp. today, i was able to jump my cranking battery off of one of my trolling batteries. i drove around the lake for about 10 minutes, i thought that should have been sufficient for my alternator to re-charge the cranking battery, but it was no help at all. when i tried to crank the battery was dead once again, and I had to jump off again. is something wrong with my alternator? this is driving me nuts. by the way, yes i checked to make sure i didn't leave anything on. it seems like my starter is just sucking the life out of my battery with every attempt to crank. i am tempted to take it to a professional and have him change the plugs, alternator, and starter at this point. Soooo frustrating >

UFC 83
I'm with you on that. Plus the fight is in Canada. All the cards are stacked in St. Pierre's favor. Maybe Serra will give him another good fight, and this can become a trilogy.

UFC 83
Anybody else excited about it? I can't wait. I personally don't think there's any way that Serra beats St. Pierre again, but some fighters just have the kryptonite for others. I'm an MMA fanatic, I can't wait to see this one.

Hooking into a Bass ... What's Your Phrase?
my wife always says "I got one!" ... Then she sets the hook. I've tried to convince her to set the hook, then say "I got one"... She's learning.

Welcome Rage Tail Baits!
Hey Big-O, could you tell us EXACTLY what combination of jig and rage tail that is in your avatar. Please include the color and size. Also, what is the most effective way to fish that combo... THANKS!

Welcome Rage Tail Baits!
That's crazy! My wife went to the bait store for me yesterday and asked the owner what we should try. He gave her a pack of the watermelon red, Rage Craws and a pack of 3/0 stand-up jig hooks. Ever since I saw them yesterday, I've been excited about trying them out. They look AWESOME!

Fishing and Golf (POLL)
What do you think? I should add that I'm asking this question to people with full-time jobs (other than pro-golfers or pro-fishermen). Can you balance a full-time job, golf, and fishing? I've tried and determined it's either going to be one or the other. We'll define "good" as: Golf: consistently able to make par, average +5 or better on an 18 hole course. Fishing: you've won at least one tournament

I did a search before posting this thread... maybe I just didn't search for the right thing. I'll try again.

Best time for SMB?
I recently moved to Nashville from South Alabama. My dad wants to come up here and go smallie fishing with me, and he wants to come when the smallies are most active. If any of you are familiar with smallie fishing in middle tennessee, please tell me when the best time for him to come up here would be, so we can start planning the trip. thank y'all!

The Dancin' Eel
My wife bought me one today. She said the man at the sporting goods store recommended it. Have any of you had any luck with it? How do you fish it?

starter/alternator/battery question?
according to the manual you are supposed to push in the key and hold it in. I can actually hear a change in the sound the fuel pump is making, and that's how I know it's fully primed. Also, could you tell me approximately how much a new starter would cost? Finally, do you have to put a special type of spark plug on boat motors?

starter/alternator/battery question?
man, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one. Hopefully we'll continue to get some good advice on this issue.
