She caught it from the bank with a crappie jig on Barbie rod and reel. She was so happy! ;D

Temp was 101 Heat Index 110 (PICS) resized
It was so hot today and the pond was way down, but I still HAD to fish!! I fished for 6 1/2 hours and caught 6 bass (did some catfishing also). I caught a bass on my first cast with a rattle trap by the bank. Three hours later I caught a 4.5 lb bass on a spinnerbait by a submerged tree. Then I caught a one with a crankbait fishing along some trees that had fallen from the bank. Caught two 2lb bass on a 6" green pumpkin worm fished along the bank. My last fish (also in the 2lb range) was caught on the same rattle trap fished by a submerged tree. Here's some pics. Sorry they're not too good, but its not easy to take pictures by yourself.

Rattle Trap
I fished some rattle traps today, I burned them right by some partially submerged trees and put some nice bass in the boat. Thanks for all of your input, and I can't wait for it to cool down so I can start rippin em and trying out some of your suggestions.

Rattle Trap
It seems to me that ripping them off the bottom, or at least from the depths, would produce in the heat of the summer as well as in the winter.

braided line question
I put 30# Spider Wire stealth on my baitcaster and I had nothing but problems, I threw it away, replaced it with mono and it worked fine. Will Power Pro work better on my baitcaster?

Need help on a small pond
Maybe it was just a bad day for fishing. Bass are not going to bite the same everyday. If the weather is different or any number of factors that vary from one day to the next.

lawnmowers, power equipment and bass
I think bass who live in high traffic areas are used to the noise, which works in your favor because if you make a sudden noise, you won't spook them.

What am I doing Wrong???
It's hot outside, what are you fishing with, how deep, is there any structure or cover around. Conditions have changed over the last 6 months and so have the feeding habits of the fish. On a pond where you have no boat I would recommend using something that would cover a lot of water, such as a spinnerbait, crankbait, or rattle trap, but fish them deep with varying presentations and speeds. As the sun sets it might be time to bust out the top water baits.

deep structure
I am looking for tips on how to find deep structure in a big pond without the use of electronics.
