How to Dispose of Fishing Equipment
I'm only 25 so I have never thought about it. But I guess it just depends on the situation. If I had a very nice boat & my family was hurting finically then I hope they sell it to help pay bills & stuff. But if they were set in the money department & no one in the family was into fishing, then I might donate the boat & gear to college Bass fishing team. I have heard more about colleges starting bass teams and I don't know if the college pays for the fishing stuff or not. If not then that would help bring happiness to other people. But the perfect thing would be to give it to a family memeber (a son or brother) who doesn't have a boat but loves the sport. You can spread my ashes all over the boat then take it out, so that way i'll always be there fishing with you.

What's the next category
I guess that means I'm a avid bass fishing since I have gone close to 40, but too bad it doesn't make me any good.

My website
I would say maybe make the sponsors logos a little smaller, I know they are helping you, but people coming to the site don't want to see big sponsors logo and links. Look at on site, they have sponsors but they aren't huge and stand out more then other stuff on the site. Your logos are big enough that they get the attention first not you. You should get the attention first. 2nd, To the left of sponsors (where the under construction) maybe have a good size pic of your latest fish caught/trip. That way it catches people's eye and will want them to go fish with you. Maybe also have under it list your fishing report and what you caught. You don't need to go into details as in saying what spot or detailed lure used. But enough to let people who might want to hire you know that they are going to catch something and that they are catching the fish they want to. So that way if someone was looking for certain type of fish, crappie, bass, catfish, etc... They can see a picture or read a report of you catching type of fish. That way they can pick you because you will help them catch the type of fish they want.

Scents
I got this idea the other day and I didn't know if anyone else has done anything like this. I read an article the other day, can't remember what magazine, but the host/guide/angler said he would spray some scent into his bag of plastics so they would be scented. My idea is similar but I was wondering if any has put any type of seasoning or scent in their trayswith plastics or crankbait to give them a scent? I'm new and still learning and didn't know if a certain smell would actually drive the fish away instead of going for it, or would that be a good idea to try? Any advice would help.

Fuse Buse
I am going to add a couple of fuse/wire buses on my bass boat tomorrow. It is a old boat and the onwer before didn't have any, so I'm adding them so I can clean up some wiring. My question is, I have heard about puting a type of jell/jelly on the terimals where the wires connect to help prevent water getting to them. I was wondering if it's ok to use grease, your all purpose type. I have half a tube and I was going to use that, but I was just checking to make sure it would be ok. Have any else done this before?

Catfish
I was wanting to know more about catfishing, and I didn't know if anyone knew of a website that is as good as this one with bass fishing, but for catfish. This is the best website out there for Bass fishing and I love checking it and learning from others. But I was wanting to know about catfish now too, so any ideas would be great.

Have I ever showed you guys this ???
My dad has a friend has caught a hybrid about that length. I'm hoping to catch one some day like that.

Finesse Fishing, Why spinning gear?
I only use spinning reels. Having the reel under the rod is more comfortable and easier to move the rod tip then having the reel on top. To me the Spinning reels are more of the medium reels. You can catch big and small on it and can use it in different ways. Baitcasters seem to be the heavier reels for bigger lines, lures, and more pulling. They are like the 4x4 of the fishing. Then you have the Spincast that are more like the compact car or the bunch. Used mainly for light tackle, lines, and easy to use. Mainly the beginners reel. But I think a lot of people, like me, you can control the rod tip and the action of the bait easier with the spinning gear vs the baitcaster. But the baitcaster might be better going through weeds and heavy cover.

i could be a world record holder
Usually to have it as a record you need 2 other people, a picture, and it usually has to be weighted by a certified scale. Each state maybe different. So I would say it's too late, now you get to aim for the world record like the rest of us.

whats your biggest??
First year, my two biggest were last spring right at dark so I couldn't get a good pic of them with my phone. But they were 2 hybrid (cherokee bass) and one broke a 10-15lbs test fishing pole when I was reaching to grab him, but I was able to grab him so he wasn't lost. He about the length of my arm (maybe a little less)(I'm 6ft tall), and it hook both hands to hold him. I have no idea about his weight, I'll so 50lbs (haha), but I have no idea, next time I'll have to remember to weight him. They should be bitting again soon. Here is a pic of my 3rd best. Smallmouth.

another cell phone bites the dust
Usually if the phone is in the water for a really quick time, you can take it apart and let t dry out completely and it will work again. But the longer it was in the water the more damage it might have done and not work, so hopefully it goes back to working. It sounds like I wouldn't want to be in your boat when your casting

STOP THIEF!!
I watched some Bass fishing show a couple of months ago and that almost happened to the host. He said he has caught numerous fish like that and that Smallmouth Bass are known to do that. He said they will to take away a easy meal from another fish if they can, and that's when you usually get two. I'm waiting for it to happen to me, I would think I struck gold if I caught 2 fish on the same hook.

Fish Finder
There is a couple of different main ones made for being portable. Their is different mounts for different fish finders but most of them you can have them so they are portable. I use a Humminbird Smartcast for my kayak. You cast the sensor into the water and the display get the signals wireless. It runs of batteries, but has hook ups for a main battery and transducer, but I use it in my kayak. The display folds down and has handle that you can carry it easy. The wireless sensor isn't the greatest but if you had a transducer it would be a great little portable fish finder. Just look around and find one you like, their is plenty to choose from. Here is just a couple that Bass Pro has on their website to give a idea, then you can go from there. -Humminbird PiranhaMAX 210 Portable Fishfinder -Humminbird Fishfinder 535 Portable Just look around and try to go to some where like Bass Pro and see their actually displays. That wat you can see how good of picture & features they actually have and you can find one that is what you can looking for.

Fish Going Deep?
Since I'm still very new to Bass fishing I read a lot about the fish going deep for the winter. I thought Bass stay about 3-20 ft of water. So if they go deep are you saying they stay at 20ft, or do they go all the way to the bottom of the lake? The two lakes I go to (Old Hickory Lake and Percy Priest Lake, both Nashville, TN area). Old Hickory isn't as deep (mainly 10-40 mostly) but Percy Priest can get as deep as 90 near the dam. Are the Bass going all the way down to the 80+ feet down? I guess I'm just trying to find out more about fish going deep.

Still Having MORE problems with Bass Pro Shops!!!
That's why when I can I would rather do to actually stores and get my ideas and return them to the store vs shipping things. Because if you have things shipped you never know what could happen (lost, damaged, etc...). If you go to a store you can get things worked out very quickly vs on the phone. No business is perfect. I still say if their is a BPS store near you, you need to go there in person. It might be taken them long to refund you because you used a gift card, but I would think they would just send you a gift card with that amount on it. Well if you used a credit card they can put it back on your card pretty quickly.

Kayak and/or Canoe fishing
I have a Old Town Otter XT Kayak and I take it out to the lake from time to time, not as much now since I have a boat. The kayak is more stable, as in you don't move as much from waves like boats. It goes through waves great, I don't ever get wet. You just need to look around and see what type you really want since their is Lake, Ocean, & Whitewater kayaks that all have different styles and options. And it's not to hard to get in and out of the kayak. I just turn it sideways on the boat ramp, get in and then just push off with your paddle. I have a telescoping fishing, so it makes it handy when you get the fish close you can make the poll smaller which makes it easy to get the fish near you. Look around and look at different stores for prices.

Help me regain my intrest in fishing
Just remember how pieceful it is being out on the water, especially now that a lot of people have stoped coming out because of the weather. Remember how it is when you are completely relaxed and then all of sudden getting a good size fish hooked. You go from being completely relaxed to your heart pounding and the excitement racing. A computer game keeps you happy at the same level, while nothing beats that feeling of getting a fish. Seeing him jump out of the water and then holding him up.

Ever get Bit by a smallmouth?? it hurts!!!
I guess next time bite him back. I've never been bitten by any fish. I caught a couple of Hybrid Bass and they are very strong and they don't like to open their mouth and you have to force your finger into their mouth and then they will open. But I've never had one bit at me. If the hook is in their mouth where it might hook me if they wiggle, I will grab them with a grove around the body so I can have a good grip of them and get the hook out, but no bitting from them.

Winter Wear?
I figured bids and waders were about the same just the waders had the boots made into them, but both would help keep you warm. What about coveralls? Do they not let you move as much as a separate pants(bib) and jacket? I would have thought they would be the best because you are just about completely covered and my way for cold air to get in, but everyone seems to pick the other over coveralls.
-
Winter Wear?
I am one that I like to be completely prepared. When I go to football games I usually have a couple of jackets and numerous layers on so I'm not cold. But with more layers it makes it a little harder to move, so if I get a jacket/pants combo what is made for the colder temps that would keep me warmer and drier, and still let me move, instead of the numerous layers that limits my moving.

Winter Wear?
I didn't know where to post this, but I'm hoping you can help me. I'm new to fishing, first year or actually go for a type of fish instead of the worm on the hook, but since I love getting out on the lake and loving fishing more each day. I would like to be able to go out and try some winter fishing this year. I don't hunt so I don't have any type of winter hunting/fishing gear to stay warm, just put on 6 layers. How my old boat sits on the hand made trailer it came on I actually have to touch the water when loading and unloading. I was looking to get a jacket/pants combo, coveralls, or fishing waders to stay warm during the cold days. I didn't know what your advice would be on fishing winter wear? I just came across BPS RedHead Mountain Stalker Elite Coveralls, and I like those. Any advice on picking out the right winter wear would be great.

Naming your boat
I'm in TN and I have seen a lot of people name their boats especially yachts, house boats, and boats with cuddy cabins. I haven't seen that many people name your fishing boat or a run about boat.
-
water temp
I'm in TN and the weather has been close to yours, mid-high 60's during the day and 40's at night. The water temp on the lake is about 72, it might have gone down some this past week. My luck has been on flats near the channel, and the fish have been holding about 8-15 ft depth. So I would suggest if you wanted to try shallow areas, I would try it in a area that is right next to a channel.

How often do you fish
I got my boat in Jan. 2007 and as soon as it was warm enough I have gone to the lake about 1-2 times a week (mainly sat. & sun.). I usually hit the water about 10-11 or so, and I stay out their until I'm ready to come back in. I have stayed out until 3am doing some night fishing. I usually stay on the average from 10-6pm, not prime fishing time but still fun. I just love to be out on the water. I'm going to keep doing this until it's just to cold, but I'm going to get some winter hunter cloths so I can try some winter fishing. The two lakes I go to are about the distances from me. It is about a 40 minute drive, it's not bad since most places it take 30 minutes to get around the town. One is a lake but more like a river, depths are about 30-less feet and you have to stay in the channel when driving. The other is a man made lake, can reach depths of 100ft. I go out in my 1972 16ft Terry Bass with the 55HP. It just about perfectly geared for fishing.

Have you Had Problems With Bass Pro Shops?
I've never had trouble with them, but I haven't ever had to return anything. If you are having trouble with them on the phone I would just go down and talk to someone at your local BPS, they should be able to clear it all up and quickly.
