  1. Check out BassZone. They have a list of most, if not all, bass trails in OK. Click on the Trails button, the clubs are listed along with what lakes they are fishing, and usually a link to a website.
  2. Think how much he could have gotten if he'd spilled a cup of coffee on himself as he was jumping into the water.
  3. I've never come close to having that happen. I have dropped fish that made it back into the water though. I think a more likely mistake would be forgetting to cull (not that I often even get that chance).
  4. Retired Air Force. Are you looking for info on a particular service?

Yeah, it was big news here. They interviewed a girl that was working in some store near the epicenter. She said the walls kind of shook like someone had slammed the back door really hard. Sounds terrifying.
  6. Thanks for the heads up. Went by there Friday and ended up dropping 40 bucks. The two guys working there were great. It may not have everything you can get at Bass Pro, but it's a lot easier to get to for me.
  7. 7-10 for cheating in a tournament, and 5 for trying to hire someone to kill his wife (if I'm reading that right). Sometimes I wonder about our legal system.
  8. I think people can convince themselves of whatever they want. I also think that if someone makes enough vague predictions , then others will fit those predictions to events.
  9. I think they said a heart attack. I have to wonder if the number of times he was under heavy anesthesia would increase the risk. And I agree, despite the strangeness in his later years, he was an icon of pop in the 80s and 90s.
  10. Sorry if you thought I was trying to imply that you did any of those. My post about assuming people obeyed the rules was in response to CFFF 1.5. As for the post about the study saying if you don't look at the drivers, they are more likely to stop: I'm betting that doesn't work if they aren't paying attention. Hopefully they won't be speeding as well as texting.
  11. True, parking lots are different, but it's not too smart to assume everyone is obeying the speed limit. One of my many pet peeves is people speeding throught parking lots, especially when they are cutting across parking spaces or going the wrong way. For some reason, many people seem to think that regular rules of the road don't apply in parking lots, so directional arrows and painted lines are just suggestions (heck, maybe they are just suggestions, but I follow them anyway). I get more annoyed by people that see you waiting for them to cross, and they just slowly stroll along (and I'm talking apparently healthy people, not elderly or disabled). I remember one kid that I stopped for that slowed his walk and stared at me the entire time he crossed. Personally, I make an effort to walk faster when there is traffic waiting on me.
  12. I know it's been stated before but, if you can see them, they can see you. I imagine that makes them wary of anything out of the ordinary.
  13. It's my understanding that you don't just have to worry about the rays coming down, but the ones reflecting off the water. So just wearing a hat isn't going to do it. I believe this is true because I have gotten way worse sun burns while on the water or snow skiiing than I have in a similar amount of time if not around a reflective surface. Now I wear a wide brimmed hat and 50 SPF (re-applied every couple of hours).
  14. Several years ago, I saw a story about a lure maker that specialized in bird type lures. Basically they were topwater lures that supposedly got huge bass bites by imitating baby birds that had fallen in the water.
  15. The Day After had me disturbed for weeks after I saw it.
  16. I had a cousin that was tired all of the time. It turned out he had diabetes. If exercise and diet change don't help, I'd seriously consider seeing a doctor. That being said, I'm not a doctor, and I don't know if that is usual. If I were you, I'd put more weight on what the actual doctors on this site have to say.
  17. I'm usually wearing shorts that have been bled on, been in dirty water, and sunscreen smeared on them. My t-shirts usually have smear marks from sunscreen ( i typically have to re-apply at least 4 or 5 times during the day). I'll be wearing dirty wading shoes or sandals. My hat is a floppy hat with sweat stains and salt lines. And I'm pasty white. Oh, and I fish from a Buster Boat. So no, I don't care. As someone stated earlier, I'd rather have a dirty floppy hat and white lines from the sunscreen than a bad sunburn (had pleny of those when I was younger, thank you).
  18. I haven't fished Lexington WMA. I retired from the AF about a year ago, and haven't fished that many lakes in OK yet. That's one of the reasons I joined the mini-boat club, so I would have a reason to make the drive to some of the good lakes south and east of the city (I live near Kingfisher, and all of those lakes are at least 1.5 hours away).
  19. Prague City Lake is pretty nice, and it's probably a little closer than American Horse. It has lot's of standing timber, and it's a no-wake lake. There is a two dollar fee to fish it (plus one dollar if boating). The water isn't typically as clear as American Horse, but there is probably a better chance to get bigger fish. By the way, if you are interested in tournaments that will take you to different lakes in central, south, and east OK, check out the OK Mini-Boat and Tube Club (http://www.okminiboattube.com). We fish about 10 tournaments a year (next is 31 May at Arbuckle).
  20. A used Buster Boat I got for fishing with a mini-boat and tube club. It is also nice for fishing the two small lakes that are within decent driving distance of where I live. When I first retired, I was planning on getting a 17' Tracker or Triton, but since there isn't a large lake within a two hour drive, I've been pondering whether it's worth the expense.
  21. She performed wonderfully I thought. Yeah, she probably got some extra attention because no one expected her to sing like that the first time, but that only lasts a short period. Her talent will be what sees her through. She reminded me of Paul Potts from the 2007 season. Nobody expected it from him either.
  22. Deadliest Catch is a great show. Those guys are always crazy, but what Captain Kieth did toward the end of the show was even more crazy than usual.
  23. Howdy, Does anyone here have any experience with the mid-range Oxygenator? Not the flush mount, but the Livewell Portable (http://www.keepfishalive.com/product-livewell.html)? I need to build a livewell for a buster boat, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth the cost or whether to just try to put in a regular aerator. Thanks

My first thought was that one would think bonuses in contracts would be dependent on success, so I had to wonder why they would have to be paid out. But they (they being AIG) are saying these "retention" bonuses are actually going to people in the arms of the business that aren't responsible for AIG's overall financial problems. In other words, they claim they are paying anywhere between 92 thousand and 4 million each to about 160 top employees of AIG's successful ventures, apparently until they can sell them off some to repay their debts. Whether that's true or not, I don't know. They also said the CEO and the top 60 or so exectuves will not recieve bonuses, nor will anyone in the failed financial services division. The CEO reportedly only took one dollar of compensation for the year. Somehow, I doubt he's hurting financially, though.
  25. Toad The Wet Sprocket When I first heard of this band, my first thought was how ridiculus the name was, but then I heard that they got it from a Monty Python bit, after which I thought it was a great name.
