Favorite movie quotes
I thought "I'm your huckleberry" was a great line also. I have no idea what it means, but it was just a great delivery. Buckaroo Bonzai: No matter where you go, there you are. John Candy in Canadian Bacon: There's a time to think, and a time to act. And this, gentlemen, is no time to think. Pretty much everything in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

Indiana Boat Sport Travel Show
The Oklahoma Tackle Show was really disappointing...it was cancelled. Most vendors cited the economy and reduced marketing budgets. I would have actually thought vendors would make money at such a large show (at least they claim it's one of the biggest), but apparently not. Both my brother-in-law and I had been looking forward to that show for months, much the same way a child looks forward to going to Disney World.

Polarized Sunglasses Suggestions
I have some Maui Jim's that are pretty good. Not sure if they have any in the $120 range or not. Think I paid about 150 a couple of years ago. The only thing I don't like about them is they are pretty heavy. I think the price of sunglasses is directly proportional to how fast they will sink if they fall overboard.

Anyone else here like to read?
Yes, the parts dealing with the split tower were the absolute worst. It seemed like there were 100s of pages of them trying to decide what to do. I got to the point that I just started skimming through it. I think the best thing about the last book was that he started concentrating on what I consider the main characters again. Matt, Perrin and Rand seemed to get largely ignored after the first 4 or 5 books, when he was introducing so many other people. Frankly, I'm not sure who half of them are anymore due to how long ago I read the books. During the last book, I had to repeatedly check fan sites to find out who was who.

Color Blind?
I'm also color blind, mainly with shades of red and very dark colors. I'll mainly have problems with traffic lights late at night when they switch them so they blink amber on two sides and red on the other two sides. I'm never sure if I'm approaching the stop sides or the caution sides. The real bummer is that color blindness kept me out of most career fields that might have taught me a useful trade in the military. Apparently they are really picky about being able to hook up wires to the correct points.

Anyone else here like to read?
I'd agree that the first 4 or 5 books of Wheel of Time were really good, but the next 4 or 5 were drawn out and, mostly, tedious. It seemed like Jordan was drawing it out for no real reason. I did like the last book, and I'm hoping the final book makes it worth the wait. Perhaps he just couldn't decide how he wanted to end it. I think that by the time it's all over, it will end up being an overall mediocre 12? book series that could have been an excellent 6 or 7 book series.

Michael Phelps does it again...
I think it's being blown out of proportion. It was a bonehead move to make, especially at a party with plenty of people around, from the description. By now, he should know that he is a public figure, and he can't get away with what a normal person can. I actually have more disdain for the opportunist that took the picture and ran to a gossip rag(s) to cash in. Since the party happened in November, and it's just being reported now, I have to wonder if they were polling various rags to try to get the highest price. Of course, I could be wrong, and it was just an outraged citizen that couldn't sit on the picture any longer (but I doubt it). As far as getting banned, it doesn't seem that likely since it wasn't during a period of competition and it's not a preformance enhancer, more like the opposite of one. It'll still hurt him financially though.

Late night t.v.
It may just be my poor memory, but it seems to me that HBO, when it first came on, used to actually show movies BEFORE they were released to video. But, as I said, it may just be revisionist recall on my part. I stopped subscribing to movie channels years ago since they just seem to show movies that are years old, and mostly ones that I don't care to watch.

How thick is your wallet?
A unit coin. In the USAF, it's custom to carry a unit, command, or some type of coin. It was mainly important if you were at some type of off-duty function. If you were out with folks, and someone in your group did a coin check, if you didn't have one, you bought a round. If you were clumsy enough to drop your coin on the floor, you were supposed to buy a round for everyone in the bar. You should have seen all the heads whip around when a coin hit the floor in the club. Anyway, most senior NCOs and officers tend to carry one at all times, and I haven't gotten out of the habit.

How thick is your wallet?
About 1.25". It used to be thicker before I retired. The only reason it's 1.25 now is because I still carry a coin.

s Man vs wild
I prefer Survivorman also. I like the reality of it mostly. I was watching an arctic survival one today in which he actually took some fishing gear with him to try to catch char. He went days with no luck, then had a stretch where he caught four nice fish. You could see the excitement and joy every time he hooked one. According to Wikipedia, he stopped doing it because of the physical toll. Can you imagine the extra work of trying to get those long distance shots of him traveling, then having to hike/paddle/swim/climb back to get the camera gear when you are already weak and exhausted from lack of food and sleep?

Burn Notice
I like Burn Notice a lot. I don't think the girlfriend is very good looking at all, though. Nice body, but she'd be better looking if she put on another 10 or 15 pounds. And Monk is definately one of the best shows on TV.

Who else does this?
That used to be pretty common around here when I was growing up. Of course, that was decades ago.

I don't know. Don't they ride up on you after a while?

got the screws?
What exactly is the rule? I know they say the ground can cause an incomplete pass, but I assumed that meant if the receiver got tackled immediatly after a good catch. At what point is the rule no longer in effect? After two steps? After two seconds? I tried googling for it, but all I could find was the CFL rule. That one said that if the receiver jumped for the ball and caught and controlled it, but lost it when hitting the ground, it was incomplete. Also that if the receiver got hit and taken to the ground immediately, and lost the ball, it was imcomplete. Both of those make sense. It seemed like the receiver was able to move forward after the catch, even though the defender got there immediatly. I could be wrong since I only saw the replays. And why the hell is the rulebook on the official NFL page not up-to-date?

Oklahoma vs Florida
Let's hope so. I'd actually feel better if Florida were ranked #1 in the BCS. And Cravin, I agree about the schooner.

Oklahoma vs Florida
It was a good, convincing win, but I don't think that will make Texas fans any happier. I think it would be an easier pill to swallow if Texas had fallen below OU in the polls after losing to TT rather than being ahead right up until the last weekend. Particularly when they got jumped in the polls after beating A&M by 40 points. I know that if the situation were reversed, the vast majority of OU fans would be saying the same thing UT fans are saying now. I know I would, and I'm not that fanatical. However, even if the situation were reversed, and UT were going to Miami, I would still be rooting for them as the Big 12 team. I hope most Texas fans can do the same.

Red River Rivalry
As an OU fan, I wasn't happy for the last 3 quarters of that game, but I have to give props to Texas. They had little trouble moving the ball, especially in the second half. Did anyone else watch during halftime when one of the TV personalities was kind enough to let us know that OU would have to outscore Texas to win? I really appreciated that insight. At least OSU won. Great game.

Unusual Catches
I was fishing with by brother-in-law a few weeks ago at a small lake in OK. I was using a typical watermelon lizard. I reeled it in one time to find that a small bass that was maybe 1.5" had ahold of that 6" lizard by the tip of the tail. It held on for about 30 seconds after I lifted it out of the water. It was one of the funniest thing I've ever seen while fishing. That was one ambitious fish. All I could think of afterward was that little chicken hawk from the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. My brother-in-law wouldn't let me count it becuase I let it fall back into the water. What's up with that? SMSgt C
