  1. Never fished it.
  2. The mouth of and the canals on Little lake Harris. There are shell bars on the north side of Horseshoe Island in Harris and at the mouth of Dora Canal in Eustis. The grass line between Buzzard Beach and Dead River in Eustis is a good place to flip the outside lines. There are several canals on the south side of Dead River that are good in the early morning. Haines Creek between Eustis and the Lock is usually a good bet. The Harris chain can be a beast to fish though. The weather will blow up quickly and the fish are finicky. Good luck. It took me years to learn it. Join the ABA and fish as a co angler for a year out of Buzzard Beach. There are some really good sticks that fish that trail. You will get a crash course in fishing Harris.

My brother in law has worked for me for almost twenty years now. We work heavy construction and about once a year after a rain, an arrow head or sharks tooth is found. Usually by him. So I asked for one of his smaller arrow heads so I can put it in a rod for him. Here is the build. Rainshadow 843 blank Forecast graphite reel seat FDX custom cork In addition to being a great foreman, he is also a master carpenter. The massive rod stand in the pic is something he built for me out of recycled oak and it looks great. It's only fitting that the first rod on it is for him.
  5. When I bought it, the wrapper with the upgrade was back ordered so it was this one or wait. I don't like waiting. In fact I would still be waiting from Mudhole. I had Bridgemasters order this one for me and I picked it up last Sat.

I'm taking the box of goodies you sent me to Crooked Lake for the weekend. Testing results coming soon.
  7. First let me say I love it. The original ATC plastic chuck was a pizza ship. But when you have to put this statement in your directions... It's time to spend some R&D money and come up with a better mounting method. I have an engineering background and am pretty handy with more tools than anyone should own, and it still took me an hour to get the 4 new bolts installed. Also maybe you could include the 1/2 cent set screw in the new pulley. I had to take the old one out of the plastic pulley.
  8. Scott, what hook keeper did you use?

The bite is good. 34 lbs in 5 fish won the Wounded Warriors Tournament last weekend. I've been using a mega vibe worm to catch my bigger fish. Big Toho marina in downtown Kissimmee is an excellent ramp. As far as actually getting in the water, not a great idea. Although the large lizards would most likely be running from you, it's not worth the chance. I don't know about Orlando much, but there are many lakes in the Winter Haven chain that I see wake boarders and skiers on all the time. About 45 min from Disney.
  10. Top 5 tourney fish 42 and change. Best single day was 35 and change. 3 over 8 and two over 5 out of the same brush pile.
  11. Using a block on the ban saw to use it like a table saw was a pretty awesome trick.
  12. I just spent an hour watching Billy's videos. Now I have to have a ban saw and a lathe...
  13. What tool do you use when you're turning the EVA?
  14. You are one BAD dude. I'm stealing that idea just so you know.
  15. I slice them with my razor knife into thin rubber bands. I use them to hold the guide while I'm wrapping and then cut them when they get in the way.
  16. I use both size A and D. D is a little easier to use, A makes a prettier wrap. Some threads only come in A or D. I put a piece of 1/2" masking tape about 20" up from the butt. I mark on that and use it as a reference for the remainder of the build. China marker will wipe off. If you are using recommended guide spacing that is the the location of the ring. I convert my measurements so I can mark at the beginning of the guide foot. That way the mark is covered by the thread. I also use surgical tubing cut into little rubber bands so I can static load test the guide placement before I start wrapping.
  17. I talked to Bob and he said two weeks. Mine arrived a few days early.
  18. If you are going to frog fish in Florida, then this is how you do it. You must have a Baitcaster MH fast at least 7' . If you can't afford one, I'll send you one. You must have at least 50 lb braid. Buzz frog - Superline hook, 3/0 or bigger depending on the frog. Fish it with your rod tip up at 11 oclock. When you see or hear the strike, drop your rod and watch your line. Wait Wait If your line moves, reel in the slack and make a hard hookset strait up. If your line does not move, slowly reel up the slack and twitch the frog. Many times the larger fish will slap it to stun it and circle back to eat it. Always have a big worm rigged up also. If they miss, throw the worm back to the same spot. Rarely will a fish hit topwater again, but they will almost always take the worm.
  19. Without pics it did not happen.
  20. Harbor freight has a table top mini lathe that I have been looking at. I don't need it but that never stopped me before.
  21. The $154 kit is the most comprehensive one I have seen. If you are only going to build a few rods then that is probably all the tools you will need. That is probably enough supplies to build two rods. After that you will need more epoxy, finish, mixing cups, mixing sticks, brushes. Things to add denatured alcohol - walmart These are nice to have - but not necessary http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building/Reamers-and-Abrasives/Extreme-Reamer-Set-of-4 http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building/Measuring-Tools/CRB-Tip-Guide-Sizing-Gauge http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building/Measuring-Tools/Digital-Calipers
  22. I've been stuck inside for 3 days now with a nasty flu and high fever. Evidently this is what happens when my brain is nearly melted. Rainshadow - RX6 MB 843 7' MF Forecast Graphite trigger with black hood Eva rear grip and fighting butt Alconite guides with SiC tip UGA colors and logo
  23. I have Revo sx gen 1 and gen 2s plus 2 rockets. I like the rockets for flipping and pitching.
  24. At $300 you are in the custom rod range.
  25. Usually a winding check and a trim wrap and an epoxy ramp. There are 3 types of winding checks above, Aluminum, fuji graphite nylon, and rubber. This one has a rubber winding check, trim wrap, and a built up epoxy ramp flush with the reel seat barrel.
