  1. :-?Thanks everyone. I use a fish feeder now for the Bream. As far as adding brush or other things so the bream can hid from the Bass I have that covered also. I left alot of trees and brush in the pond when I built it. The bream have plenty of places to hid. I am going to try to find someone in the DNR to look at my pond to give me some ideas. Last year I posted something similar to this message and I even posted some pics of some of the bass. I am sure some of you remember me talking about this problem last year. Thanks Everyone
  2. Some will say this isn't a problem but I disagree. I have a 1.5 acre pond about five years old. I stocked it with bream and large mouth bass. For the past year or so my pond is full of 3 to 6 pound bass an a few smaller or about a pound. Actually I have all different size bass but the majority is 3 to 6 pounds. I haven't caught a decent size bream this year. There is a handful of small bream less than one quarter pound but I never catch 1 pound or better bream. Last summer I could catch a few 1 pound or better but I haven't this year. I enjoy eating fish and I like eating bream but it is no fun try to eat bream the size of french fries. I am thinking I have too many bass and need to start taking some out. Last week my dad took 3 bass that weighed about 3 pounds each and today I took 3 bass that weighed 1 pound and under. I fished this afternoon and I caught at least 15 bass and 12 of them were 3 pounds or better and my friend caught 5 that weighed 3 pounds or better and 1 that weighed about a pound. I took six bream home but they were all small. What is wrong with my pond? Some articles say I have too many bream and some say I have too many bass. I dont know what to believe. It seems to me I have way too many bass but I dont want to do anything to hurt a fun pound to catch fish in. Brian from SC
  3. If I kill a big one I eat it. No reason to let it just float away if it can be a meal.
  4. Some pics from yesterday. Hope the pics are not too big for this post. PS. How can I attach more than one pic. I have about five or more different Bass so I might have to just keep posting if I cant add them on this post. Some of the pics are of the same pic. I didnt take pictures of all the Bass but this gives you a look at the ones I catch in the pond. Brian
  5. That is a scary video. It is hard to believe the great lakes are drying up unless you see video like this.
  6. I went yesterday and it was just after the colder weather moved in my area of SC. I could notice a giant change in how the fish were biting. The Bass were biting very slow and the Bream were not biting at all. Good luck, hopefully after a few weeks of cool weather the fish will bite again. Brian
  7. Four years ago when we decided to build the pond we called around and got a few prices from guys we know have built ponds in the past. We got two quotes. The first guy was going to charge us 20,000 and the second guy charged 16,000. I dont know if prices vary from state to state. We went with the lower price. So far the pond has been really nice. I actually went fishing today and because of the recent weather change the fish didnt bite as well today. I think I caught about eight or ten bass. I took pictures so I will post them as soon as I get them on the computer. I didnt catch any bigger than four lbs, at least the biggest looked about four pounds but it may have been alittle bigger. I will post them before the weekend. You should build your own pond if you have a creek that you could dam up. Brian
  8. My family and I are going to start keeping the smaller Bass when we catch them. We are going to leave anything 3lbs or bigger in the pond. Hopefully this will keep the Bass from overpopulate and hopefully the Big Bass will keep the Bream from over population. I wish I could introduce tadpoles back into the pond like they were the first and second year we built it. We have been concerned about introducing minnows because we have heard some bad things about them. I am going fishing tomorrow and I plan to take some pictures of the fishing trip. Thanks for all advice. Brian
  9. I hope everything is ok and the Bream continue to produce. I have a fish feeder that comes on Sunrise and Sunset. I feed them small brown pellets made for Bream. Late in the evening when it comes on the Bream feed on the fish food and the Bass sound like they are going to war the way they roll the water chasing after the Bream. I guess they know the Bream are concentrating on eating and they try to take advantage of this. I want to buy a camcorder to tape the feeding because it is something no one would believe unless they saw it.
  10. Where does everyone live who responded to this topic. I live in SC. It would be nice finding Bass fisherman who live close by so we could go catch a few. I am planning on going fishing this afternoon at a local lake. Sometimes it is fun trying to catch a Bass in a lake that don't have many than it is fishing where you are guaranteed to catch at least 10. Brian
