Thanks for the advice. The way its been I'll get plenty of practise
  2. I have a quick question that I think I might even know the answer to, do the fish just plain old stop biting after a thunder storm? This there anything I can try to get them going again? Is it even worth it to go out after one of these quick hard storms?
  3. I've got an 8 hp on a 16 foot. Wouldn't go with less, but its a real heavy boat
  4. I like the first one. I might have to try it. I already tried the "its hard using the hand trolling motor with thedog in the boat", she didn't bite
  5. Thanks Now its just a matter of convincing the wife, any advice on that one?
  6. Rooster tails and bettle spins I think your seeing alot of us like them both
  7. As long as the leaky rivots are going to be an issue looks good. I walk around in 16 footer with no issue and 200 lbs. Usually its me, the wife and dog with no problems
  8. Any fix for it? I saw one of the cables exposed when I was looking at it
  9. Just spent 45 minutes throwing a white and black bettle spin, killed'em. Unfortunatly I had to admit to wife she was right.
  10. Was out today on my jon boat, kill'em until I had trolling motor issue. the motor and all are fine, but all of a sudden the foot pedal decided to not work any more. It felt like the pressure went out and it would only go left, thankfully I have an outboard on there too and was able to get in safe. I looked if I turn the motor by hand, it will go to the right and pedal will rise. Once I push the pedal, motor goes left, then stays there. Any ideas. It an Evinrude Scout, got a good number of miles on it
  11. I have a 16 foot jon boat and tried running it solely off electric. Get the gas powered, well worth it. If you have the patience wait for a boat show and you can actually find some good deals (got mine from Albers Outboards in DE, well worth the gas money to go get it) or check out Craigslist if you trust a used one. I got an 8hp Mercury and probably would not going any lower. If the boat is pretty light a 5 might be ok, but 8 seems to work well for me, I'm not trying to break any water speed records.
  12. The bracket is a great idea. Thanks for all tips, I appreciate it
  13. Bought my first fish finder the other day, an Eagle 245 DS. Trying to figure out the best way to mount the transducer (sp). I'm really not a fan of drilling holes in the back of the boat, you know that whole sinking thing . I'm considering mounting off the trolling motor, but not so sure about all the going up and down, we a re really shollow water also. The boat is a 16 foot jon boat. Any ideas?
  14. Picked a Chatterbait Trick Stick the other day. Anybody know if they work well? I've never used one.
