How are the local lakes in NoVA?
The biggest bass I've ever seen was caught off the fishing pier there a couple years ago on a live bluegill. Another guy caught a 5+ lber that same morning dragging a live crayfish. All the reports I've seen here have been pretty negative. I think pressure is a problem. There are lots of big fish in there based on electroshock sampling, but they are very wary fish. Live bait seems to be the key from what I've seen fishing from shore anyway.

How are the local lakes in NoVA?
There was quite a bit of ice on Burke Lake on Sunday. I imagine the smaller lakes still have a good covering of ice. Today's temps. might help melt them though.

Fishing at Disney
Don't tie knots in total darkness. Lesson learned. Bye bye black buzzbait. I'll try again in the am. Wish I had picked up some lizard baits.

Black buzzbait... check! Black Mickey T shirt... check! Tonight's the night. There's a nasty stomach bug going around, just hope I don't catch it!

Fishing at Disney
Reporting live from Disney World. This is the view immediately outside my room: How can I resist?

Fishing at Disney
That sounds like a good strategy. Thanks! Did you bring a lot of gear to your room?

WNY Winter Fishing
Man I need to try fishing the Genesee. I lived most my life in suburban Rochester and never fished there. My parents moved to a house just up the hill from Turning Point Park. I need to check that out.

Fishing at Disney
OK, so if I am not able to fish the Disney lakes are there any close by lakes around Orlando that I can open to the public? I just might be able to sneak out for a little while very early in the morning. They need to be close to Port Orleans resort.

Fishing at Disney
No way I'm paying $250 for 2 hours on the lake. I'll bring my gear. If I can find a way to get some fishing in without too much hassle then I'll go for it. If not then I'll just leave my gear in the car and enjoy the other attractions.

Fishing at Disney
That sucks. I'm going to try and get away with whatever I can though. I'll claim ignorance if they hassle me. There are fishing docks there. I didn't say anything about paying to use them. I'll bring my own gear.

Fishing at Disney
The family and I will be vacationing at the Port Orleans resort at Disney World during the last week of January. They have some really expensive guided tours but I'd like to do my own thing maybe with a rental canoe or paddle boat. I'm just wondering if that is frowned upon. Anyone fish at Disney World before? Are Peacocks up as far as Orlando? How is the bite in January? Sorry for all the questions. I've never fished in FL before.

NOVA lately
Anyone been fishing? My 85 year old dad will be here for Thanksgiving. I was hoping to maybe take him out on the boat on Saturday as long as the weather cooperates.

NOVA lately
This pic isn't exactly recent, but it's the last fish I caught. Almost 1 month ago. I've only been out about 2 times at night since then though so I can't complain.

Small lake/pond boating in NOVA.
Excellent! Now who wants to help me haul my 12 foot jon down to the water for a free fishing trip? lol.

Small lake/pond boating in NOVA.
I'll be getting my new Minn Kota Endura 50LB in the mail either today or tomorrow. I was thinking it would be cool to try it out at Royal maybe. I think Rob said he has put his jon boat in there in the past. Are electric motors allowed in the really small lakes? Are they allowed in Braddock Trevor?

a first.
That's great! I've heard there were a few Northern's down here. Up north they're a dime a dozen. You can always expect to catch one while bass fishing. They love big spinners. Fun fish to catch but hook removal can get sketchy!

Anybody Snag Fish?
My dad and I used to do it when I was a kid in Western NY. We'd target King Salmon toward the end of their spawning runs (the only legal time). The only thing we ever caught though were huge carp. I don't think snag fishing is legal in NY any more.

Salmon fishing in Western NY
I was thinking about taking advantage of some cheap flights and heading up to the tributaries of Lake Ontario for some Chinook Salmon fishing the weekend of 10/18. Anyone up around there? I was thinking Oak Orchard or Genesee rivers. Not sure when the main runs of fish are.... any advice is appreciated.

Any NoVA angler's been out lately?

Nice! We'll have to get out another night some time. Post in the SE forum when you head out if you're interested in company.
