Where is the best place to park at Royal? The times I've been there I've parked on a dead end street culdesac down by the manhole cover a ways down the path to the right of the dam.

Never been there. So far I've only been to Royal and Burke Lake. I plan to hit the rest of the local lakes and Occoquan this year.

I have a couple buddies in Upstate NY that want to come down here soon and get some fishing in. They'll only be here for a couple days but we haven't set a date yet. I guess this question is mainly for the guys who have fished here for years. When will the best fishing weekend be between now and let's say mid April? I'd like them to leave with a good impression of the area and have them catch a couple big ones. We'll most likely be shore fishing, but there's a possibility I'll have a boat by then too. All input is welcomed!

I voted for Royal mainly because it's only a few minutes away from me. Rob, tell me more about night fishing at Royal. I'd like to try that some time as after the kids are in bed is the only time I can fish during the week. Does it close at dusk? Are the cops really d1cks about it?

Took a walk halfway around Lake Barton with the wife and kids yesterday. Almost got to the dam and it started raining. My wife was ticked at me for making them walk all that way after assuring them it wouldn't rain. LOL... I was ticked that my fishing spot was in sight and I had to turn back. I did get a few casts in on the shallow side with no luck. We did see three turtles on fallen tree though, so that's got to be good news.

So how was it?

Wish I could. Tomorrow we're getting all our tax stuff in order. I might be able to make it out on Sunday.

He wants another $1600 for the practically new engine... total of $3200 for everything, but reservoir I want to fish has a 10hp limit. Pickings are kinda slim around here, especially for a boat as new as this and already decked out. Believe me, I've been looking for the last 6 months... I don't want a basket case.

Hmmm... I might have to check it out. Are there good enough deals to be had to justify the using up of a few gallons of gas to get there?

24+ hours later it's pretty much just a dull ache but I don't plan on doing much other than laying on the couch this weekend. After the procedure the doctor brought my wife in the room and told us no sex for a week. But then he said after that after the week is up that I "get it" whenever I wanted for the next month... doctor's orders. That was great. It takes about 30 pops or so until the pipes are completely free of sperm. I have to supply 2 samples that have zero sperm count before we can toss the condoms out forever.

I had a vasectomy. Frozen peas are my friend.

Problem solved. The guy sold the boat out from under me yesterday. He probably saved me a big hassle. On the lookout for another one.

I think I'm going to wait for another boat. I was ready to go up and risk the ride home but from what the DMV woman was saying is that it would be difficult for me to get a title for it in VA for many of the reasons you guys listed. I don't think it's worth the headache. Thanks for the suggestions. Paul

Well I went to the DMV today to try to get a temporary trip tag to bring the boat home. They wouldn't give me one without title information from the seller. I told the woman that the guy didn't have a title and wasn't going to get one... I don't know what to do. It sounds like they would give me a hard time trying to title it in VA without the MD title. I'm looking at a decent 14ft jon right now with that same motor for $800. It has pedestal seats but it doesn't have that nice deck though.

I'm a Virginia resident looking to buy a 14ft jon that's in Maryland. The guy doesn't have a title for the trailer. I called the Virginia DMV and they said I need a title. It doesn't look like the seller wants to go through the trouble of getting a title for it, so I guess I'll have to do it myself. But can I, as a VA resident, get a title in Maryland? Anyone run into this situation before?

Can anyone shed some light on why it was shut down in the first place?
