If improved action is your goal, learn to tie a good loop knot and get rid of the swivels.

No different from any other bait, it has to be used in the right conditions and water. "Generally" you will get fewer bites on them but a little bit better grade of fish.

Doesn't have to be crystal clear, but should have at least a few feet of visibility. Also wind is your friend.
