Trokar flippin hooks

Featured Replies

I just bought some trokar flippin hook and wanted to know how people are rigging beavers. Can you rig them texas style even though the shank is straight, or do you thread the beaver on the hook with the hool exposed.

The Trokar flippin hook is to be rigged texas style.  The knack is how far to insert the point down from the top of the bait before you bring the point out and turn the point back toward the body of the lure. Then just lay the point out to see where it will come out and insert it and texpose the point.  The barb on the collar (which is on the shank )should be just outside the material of the bait and that collar keeps the bait from slipping down the shank.  I'm sure someone more skilled than I will toss in a photo of a rigged bait.  Let us know how you like them after you fish them a while.  It's too early for me to have an opinion on this hook yet.

Straight-shank worm hooks are meant to be Texas Rigged, thats why they have a barb of some sort on the hook shank up near the hook-eye.  Using exposed hooks on most soft plastics is asking for trouble.

I was given a pack of the Trokar flippin hooks when they first came out. Broke two of them on my first trip, was flippin heavy weeds. The breaks occurred just below the eye and on the hookset.

I was using 65lb braid, hook was snelled, flippin stick.

Decided to stick with the BMF hook.  :(

This is not the first time I've heard of these hooks bending or breaking. Its a little disturbing cause I was looking forward to trying them out....... >:(
