  1. One of my local lakes has been drawn down. I'm trying to walk around and mark some stumps and other structure. My question is: has anyone been successful using an iphone to record waypoints and import them to your boat electronics...accurately? I don't have any trouble with performing the steps but I can't get the accuracy I'm looking for. For example, I have marked a stump using Commander Compass iphone app. I imported it on my lowrance hds gen2. It didn't look like it was very accurate, so I went back out the next night and marked the same stump multiple times. The points are are not very close. They look to do be up to 20 feet off. The points in the picture were all marked while I was sitting on the stump. Is this a limitation within the app/phone? Would other apps or devices be more accurate or am I wasting my time? Should I spend my time taking pictures and then trying to find/mark the spots from the boat when the lake fills up again? Thanks in advance for any info.
  2. i may be interested as well. pm me some info please.
  3. that is the knot i have been using. i read it on another post here. i think it will work. took me awhile to get it down. thanks for the info. i did find some P-line that is fluorescent, just in case anyone else is interested. P-Line CX comes in clear and green fluorescent. bps has it. i read on another site that yozuri smoke purple is marketed as hi-vis. i don't know if that means it fluoresces or not. i think i would prefer the yozuri over the p-line since i have never tried p-line. i am using stren 100% FC now in clear blue fluorescent. i prefer the manageability of yozuri.
  4. RW: Thanks for the info. i was asking specifically about the smoke/purple smoke color though. i can't find that at the major retailers. all they have is green and clear. i did find it on some other website though, can't remember which one. but since it is not fluorescent, i am not interested. nate: i use braid a lot also, mainly green. it is really hard for me to see above the water but i still like it. i have just recently started trying it out with a leader like you and others have suggested. the main reason i want to go to a leader however is that i feel like the FC or hybrid leader gives me a little stretch where needed. i feel like braid gets hung up a lot easier because of the no stretch. like, for instance, dragging around rocks. the braid instantly wedges my bait in the rocks or around wood. with FC or hybrid, i feel i can work it up and over these obstructions better. i am still testing this out. not sure how i will like the leader to main line knot. i use straight braid around grass.
  5. Don't mean to hijack the thread here. But i have a question about the yozuri smoke/purple smoke line. Where can i find that? Do you know if it is fluorescent? i would like something that i can see out of the water easily and that also glows under a black light (hybrid or 100% FC). i use the clear stuff now. i can see it clearly above water and i think it disappears well under the water. So to answer your question, the different line colors are for the angler to see the line above the water. I agree with roadwarrior, line color doesn't matter to the fish as much as we might think.
  6. i did a google search already and all i could find was fluorocarbon coated line that fluoresced under a black light. i was trying to find some 100%. i guess i will try the stren stuff. thanks to everyone for the info.
  7. i saw the post from about a week ago asking about strens fluorescent fluorocarbon. but i was just wondering if anyone else made this type/color of line.
