Tatsu - Question for RW or others
RW, I have read what you have said about this line. I'd be most grateful if you could be more specific about the size of line you used, on casting, on spinning, sensitivity, handling, abrasion, etc. Or anyone else who may have had some experience with Tatsu. Thanks!

¼ ounce Jig Rod and Reel setup Help!?
Depending on the action you like, I would recommend one of the medium powered Avids. Hard to beat for the $$$.

BASSclary's P-Line CXX Review.
I used to use 12# all the time and loved it. However, living in the north, I would stop using it as the weather grew colder. It would become less manageable. Casting was quite a bit shorter. Otherwise, I only quit using it to test out some other lines and eventually went to fluoro.

new rod delima....again
I'm one who has never used a Crucial, either. But I can speak to the GL2 and the Avid. To me, there is not much comparison. The Avid is a lot better rod. Much more sensitive. I like the Avid better than GL3, as well. Just remember, Avids M is like many other MH (except in their crankbait rods). The Avids are hard to beat, dollar for dollar, so to speak.

Thoughts about the Diawa Fuego Baitcaster?
At $100, it's a steal. Buy it. And if you don't like it, PM me. I'll give you the $100, plus the shipping costs, plus shipping insurance. I'll put my money where my mouth is on this one. I wish I knew where the dumb-arse idea came from that the Fuego is not good for light weight baits. I have four of them. I put new line on them this weekend, in prep for a trip. Had them out on the water yesterday, making sure I was good to go. Had one rigged up with a 3" tube, 1/0 light-wire EWG hook, and a 1/16oz internal clip weight. The whole bait weighs in at about 1/8oz. No problems casting this. I can put it where I want it. Ditto for another rigged with a 1/32oz Gammy Wacky jighead, and 4" 3X french fry. I doubt this bait rig weighs much more than 1/16oz. Again, no casting problems. I am so glad to read someone say this. I've been scratching my head about it myself. I've been throwing almost identical rigs on the Fuego for some time. I can cast and place them easily, unless throwing into a major wind. Even then, it is not impossible. I own a number of different reels, but with how they feel in my hand and actally function on the water, the two Fuegos I own may very well be my favorites.

CHEAPEST Reel you've been impressed with?
I've been eyeballing that one. I take it you like it? It's a smooth, reliable reel that's been around for quite a while now. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwaprocaster.html FWIW, it's also known as the Procaster 6+1. A quick Google search will turn up a ton of info. Agreed, hands down. Had one for years and it's doing well! Of the newer models at retail, the Daiwa Exceler would get my vote.

Berkley Sensation
I'll add my two cents. Back when all I used was nylon mono, I had settled on Sensation as the best all around line I could find. I try everything I can. It's an obsession, I guess. Always looking for that elusive perfect line. Very strong for its diameter, good abrasion resistance for its diameter, great casting, little less stretch, decent sensitivity. Never had trouble with knots, except . . . My only complaint was that it seemed to weaken more quickly than a lot of other lines, then I would have knot troubles. I used it on both spinning and casting. Once in a while I'd get a spool that, no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to spool onto spinning without twisting. So, I guess that's two complaints. I still think it is very good line, overall.

revo sx vs stx
Again, the only difference I know of is the "infini spool," or whatever they call it. The SX has the traditional spool which has a spool shaft that runs through the pinion gear. With the STX, the spool rides on two bearings. It has a stationary pinion shaft. (I hope I'm saying this right.) Some would say it's a design "borrowed" from Daiwa and their "free floating spool." My son who tournament fishes really likes the Revos because they fit his hand so well. For whatever reason, I know he actually prefers the SX.

Power Pro is TERRIBLE!
Just a thought, but have you tried switching back to PP on that same rod to see if it can be repeated? Would be interesting to see. The answer might give some direction. PP is not my favorite braid, but I do still use it. It is good line which has stood the test of time, so something unusual was happening.

Berkley Bionix Rods
They are indeed still sold at many Walmarts. I used to use them quite a bit. One of the better rods for the price. Just saw new ones stocked locally a couple days ago.

BPS extreme reel took a dump.
I'm guessing it is probably the spring that returns the thumb bar ... that it is either bent or broken. On the outside chance that somehow enough dirt got into the channel where the bar returns, you might check that. But, my adult son and I each bought a similar reel a few years ago at the same time, and we each had the spring go out ... about a month apart. I've been a bit shy about buying any extremes, Clunns, etc. since then. We each have our own experiences.

Taking Care of Equipment
Yeah, right :. Haven 't you ever heard of The BaitMonkey ?!?!? :-? As meticulous as I am ( some of my oldest reels are more than 20 years old ) I still got this ...how can I say it ? uhhhh ...... URGE or ITCH or whatever you want to call it to purchase new tackle, I appreciate my old stuff but I also appreciate my new stuff and since there 's always something new on the horizon, well, ya know ---> the never ending story, you can never have "too much" tackle . Well, ya see, it isn't to myself alone that I have to make excuses.

Taking Care of Equipment
If I did everything Raul does, I'd never have an excuse to buy new stuff. I'll stick to the basics like RW.

Revo STX: 3 weeks later
Dan ... Just curious as to why you like the Fuego the least. I really like the feel and performance of mine. Like I said, just curious. Not looking for an argument.

Berkley Iron Silk line???
I am one who loved the line for many reasons ... I so wanted it to work ... but, I was also one who had knots fail over and over again. This is the only line I've ever used that I will absolutely never use again. And I've even used Vanish! Even had them send me new line after talking to Berkley on the phone. Always breakage at the knot, no matter what knot I tried. I gave it more than enough trials.

First Assessment of Mag-Touch Casting Rod
I'd like to get to Cabelas and feel one for myself. Until then, can you describe how it feels in the hand. You say not slippery, which it looks like it could be, especially when wet. Good to know. But what about comfort itself? Cork, foam, etc. do provide a measure of comfort for a long day's use. How does this feel? Thanks.

Jig Rod
Interested in what you might recommend given the following parameters: For bass jigs 3/8 oz-1/2oz. (maybe a bit heavier, but rarely) 6'6" or 6"8" (no longer) less than $200 Couple with 8.6 oz. reel Also, maybe related or not: What do you think of the Daiwa Light and Tough rods as compared with Avids (of which I have a few)? What level of rod is it? I know it is an older line. Thanks!

Which would you use: Tilene 100% or Seagar invizx??
I will just add to what has already been said. I've used both a lot, and have concluded that Trilene 100% has the best trade-off of properties. In fact, I came down to these two lines in my search for a fluoro. I've tried most of them (I haven't tried the newest Seagar offering), but I think my search is over. I really like Trilene 100%.

Daiwa Mike Iaconelli Rods
It is pretty evident that he used the L&T at least during the times at the Classic he was on camera actually fishing. That doesn't mean he didn't use anything else, or that he may not be on tape using something else, but everytime that I saw he was using the Light and Tough.

Thinnest Mono?
I would reiterate what was recommended on a prior post. Strength to diameter, I'd say Tectan. It is good line, and casts very well. Of course, you will sacrifice a bit of abrasion resistance.

Fluorocarbon Question???
Seagar InvizX probably has the least in the several I've tried. Berkley 100% isn't bad either. But InvizX still has less.
