  1. got out fishing today during this cool front that came through my area. it was low 70's and very windy. i dont know what kind of effects the low temp had. i caught 5 very small bass (none over 2 pounds) and my buddy caught 3 the same size and 1 small tiger muskie. that was cool! all fish were caught in about 11-20 feet range. all on drop shot and 1 on a jig. all in all a good day, just glad i didnt get caught in a storm. a couple of nasty clouds went by us. but, like i said a good day fishing.
  2. ok could someone give me the name of a portable fish finder that has worked for them. like the exact brand and everything please.
  3. what about the fish that stay deep? do you think the fish in general will feed more actively due to the cooler weather. i know they say that cold fronts turn the fish off, but it has been so hot here lately that i think the fish will like a cold front right about now.
  4. where i live it has been hot lately. it was high 90's last week and mid to upper 80's this week. i have been fishing both weeks. compared to when the water was cooler, the bite has really slowed down but i have caught quality fish off deep points. there is a cold front coming through and it will cool down from the mid 80;s to the low to mid 70's by tuesday june 17th(i am posting this sunday june 15th). what effect do you think this will have on the fish (largemouth bass). will they move up shallower while the weather is cool?? any tips would really really help me. thanks
  5. hey guys. i rent boats very often and i fish without a depth finder. i do have one though and i would like to start using it when i rent boats. can anyone tell me how i can do this. this includes how i can hook it up to the side of the boat (like some sort of clamp) and how i can hook up the transducer. remember it will be a rental so i dont want anything permanent just something for when i rent boats. thanks in advance
  6. is there any deep spots on the river that you know of? look for deeper pockets. if the water is as low as you say, the fish (bass) will be looking for something to hold on. look for wood, rock, drop offs, and points. and like i said, deeper water. fish all these areas. if the water is moderately clear, try a finesse worms with a 3-16th ounce weight pegged about 6 inches up from the hook (basically a split shot rig). if it is dirtier try using a crawdad or shad immitation crankbait (bandit 200). Or try jigging on wood or rock. good luck!
  7. Posted by: b@ssman Posted on: Mar 17th, 2008, 2:44pm I used about a 2" piece of 3/8" copper tube (from my AC guy) crimped for the splices on my TM. Much easier than the butt end connecters. I DO THE SAME THING AND WORKS GREAT. JUST CRIMP THE COPPER TUBE AROUND YOUR WIRE AND THEN WRAP IT UP WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE. COPPER WORKS GREAT AS A CONDUCTER.
  8. i put a very even but thin coat of marine grade outdoor glue. i dont know if that will waterproof it though. and im pretty sure the wood will expand due to lack of protection when it gets wet out. oh mannnnnn i should have remembered to coat it with the polyurethane!!! >
  9. yesterday i carpeted some of my boat deck but i forgot to coat it with polyurethane before i glued the carpet down. the glue is water proof after 5 days but now i am regretting not putting the polyurethane down. any pointers guys??????

  12. hey guys. im looking at buying a new baitcast reel tomorow. i bought a shimano citica today and took it home. as soon as i started messing with the reel and testing it out, IT BROKE! this is the first malfunction ive ever had with a shimano. i have heard great things about the daiwa procaster and capricorn, i just started with baitcast reels last year and i heard that these daiwa models are great for starters and they are very inexpensive. they also come with 8 ball bearings. has anyone had experience with this model daiwa?? also has anyone had any luck with an Okuma baitcast reel? any advice you guys could give me would really help. sorry for the essay! thanks
  13. how long will a 24 volt motor last on the water?? i know it will last longer than a 12 volt motor but im not sure how much longer. i would like to be able to fish a 12 hour day non-stop. will a 24 volt motor allow this?
