  1. yeah i think bigger baits reduce the chance of smaller fish but even though your fishing a 7 inch plastic i think those bluegill are still going to nibble on it...if only i had a m-80 every time i saw 2 dozen bluegill by my plastic ........ ive had bluegill attack a popper or a even a buzzbait...
  2. ya probably a little of both
  3. thanks just making sure im doing the right thing.... when in doubt set the hook
  4. no offence taken... yes indeed there are different names for things and people call them different things.. i guess i have always called what you call swivels ball bearing swivels and i have always called snap swivels just plain swivels. and when i said swivels i probably should have said snap swivels but i still meant the same thing.... sorry for the confusion... deffinetly do not use a SNAP swivel for plastics it will mess up your presentation and it doesnt look natural...
  5. most cranks already come with a split ring though.. the swivel will give some extra action.. i find that if i tie the line directly to the crank or the lipless crank it will run a little bit more to the side or wont run straight but when i add on the swivel i will get it to run more straight
  6. you could also use it to cool you down by using it to open a can of soda or beer ;D ;D ;D ;D
  7. i have the biggest problem telling the difference between a bluegill or a bass when im fishing plastics.. what do you do???? and yes i know using a firecracker for bait will not solve the problem ;D
  8. what kind of marine battery would be best for a 60lb thrust trolling motor???? we were looking at a optima marine battery but just want to know is there another choice
  9. you could probably get them to live a couple of weeks if you knew what you were doing and had a good airater system but no way you could keep them till winter..
  10. i use 10lb test 100% flouro on my pflueger supreme spinning reel and i do fine.. it wont cast as smoothly as braid but it will make a good finesse line.. you might want to take it down to 8 though if your spool isnt to wide.. it will cast kind of rough and you might get lots of loops if you fill the spool to much
  11. carp are fun to fight but like others said they dont do any good for the bass... im not sure what i would do if i caught one but if you threw it on land both bass and racoons would bennefit. not so much the carp though
  12. im not sure if they are afraid of it but i do know it will hinder the presentation.. i use to use steel leaders alot but i noticed when i took them off and tied directly to the lure i got bit more... with crankbaits i do use a swivel because it makes the lure wobble more freely and plus you can change quicker.. my advice to you would be loose the steel leader and either tie directly to the lure or use a swivel
  13. i usually fish with stock hooks until they get dull or rust out.. i know it is good practice to replace hooks but i cant afford to buy hooks for the millions of lures i have ;D.. some lures already come with the highest quality already so i wouldnt worry about it to much...
  14. we have probably all heard of the banjo minnnow or have seen it advertise on tv. sure it looks awesome and everything and on the preview it shows them working but is it just another tv gimmick or does it actually work like they say it does. i have been tempted to try it but i just dont want to waist 20 bucks i could spend on something different i know i can catch fish with.. anyone try them???
  15. dean rojas is a amazing at frogging he can put one where i could only dream... i will have to practice on my casting even though im not to bad but your right no on throws a frog in the spots where they need to be thrown... thank you i will take your adive and hopefully get that dvd A supper fast retreive works sometimes when the water is hot but the problem is fish will often miss the bait day in and day out a slow stop and go or walk the dog is what works. If you really want to put a change up in your fishing try fishing your frogs on docks under trees or near other heavy cover where people usally do not throw a frog. I catch a lot of bass shallow this time of year on sea walls. If you watch dean rojhas on tv you very rarely see him fish scum flats or pad fields. Scum and pads are good but everyone knows how to frog scum and pads. The best frogers are ones that make percision cast to all kinds of targets sea walls docks trees brush and anything else you can find. If you areinterested in a good DVD that covers the subject a link is below in my profile. Frog on!
  16. this is probably a dead topic but anyway i couldnt even immagine fishing without a baitcaster.. when i first began using them i thought i would never be able to cast beyond 20 ft with it ;D but after practicing everynight with it in the backyard i am able to cast well beyond what i could do with a spinning reel/rod setup.. take the time to use it and you will be happy
  17. 1.catch a 6lb bass 2.join a bass club 3.catch a trophy salmon 4.get my mom to catch a bass of a lure ;D
  18. im using a bronzeye hollow body frog and im reeling it in straight over the thickest stuff i can find and it works awesome 8-) 8-).. i also have used the jerk and pause method along with twitching and walking the dog in open water.. how about letting it sit in one place for a period of time or just doing a super fast retreive???? i have all of the basics down with the frog but i want to try something they havent seen before
  19. bass slayer 17 posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
i have been fishing frogs alot recently and i do pretty well just reeling it straight accross the matted algae but im wondering what would be some other good retreives to try???
  20. anyone try using these worms??? i have used them some and i did well with them but im wondering what is the best way to fish them.

  22. im looking to buy a spinning combo between 70 to 100 bucks. im not sure if i should get a house brand or not. also what brand of flourocarbon would you put on it. any info would be great
  23. ya i know your not being rude i was just asking what do you do when the lake turns over and if you could just explain it to me better. last summer me and my uncle went fishing at a lake and it was turning over and we didnt catch anything when we were out there. of course we only had a few hours to fish so we couldnt try as much as we wanted to.
  24. ive bought two guide series rods and they both broke on the first trip and then one of my friends bought one and it broke on the first cast and then my brother bought one and he broke it on a snag. i would recommend buying a shimano or a fennwick.
  25. this weekend im going to cabelas and basspro shop and was wondering what kind of rod combo i should buy for finesse fishing and where should i buy it from. any favorite rod combos you have
