Prevent only works about half the time in close games. Look my Cowboys last Sunday - they used it for 4 quarters, LOL.

Trouble With Fluoro
I'm trying to get my head around this statement. What part of the knot affects the line further up on the spool? I'm also a little cautious about claims about never breaking off. I rarely break off. I mean RARELY. Like 3-4 times a year. The break offs that I can't explain come one in one hundred of those break offs. They're almost always user error.

So do soft, safe defenses. I'll never get this aspect of some teams' defense strategy.

Sweet Beavers
A great bait on a bare football jig.

New Idea ?!?!?
Ok, I see. You do it that way so the fish can run with bait without detecting the weight.

That would be my game plan, LOL.

That's because you are veiwng the results of a query, like "View all new posts" or something generated with a search. You are veiwing the result of that query. When you are in the individual boards, you'll see what Marty described.

2003 Yamaha 115 Issues
It might just be a pain. My Merc 115ELPTO starts pretty rough, and usually stalls once or twice before settling in at idle. Once it's warm, she starts with the flick of the key.

If the Denver D is good enough, they could go all the way, and it will get even sillier. Anyone remember who the Ravens' quarterback was in 2000? Me neither.

To Cover All Bases: How Many Rods Does A Smb Fisherman Need?
Similar....I have three though, but they're all drop shot rods, LOL.

Smallmouth Guys: Loomis 913S-Sp
Unless I was dragging at some relatively fast speeds, or soaking live bait like softshells, I wouldn't need anything closely resembling that rod. For plastics that are set up weedless, I like a fast to X-fast taper, where the blank transitions from tip to fish moving power quick. With heavy jigheads, like 3/4 tube jigs, I do like a moderate action rod, but anything over 7' just gets in the way, and often puts my bait outside the narrow beam cone on my graph.

2003 Yamaha 115 Issues
Really dumb question, but the ball on the fuel line is pumped up hard before you start, right?

Trouble With Fluoro
You must mean, "Don't use a poorly tied Palomar with fluoro," right? Fluorocarbon will really show who can tie a knot and who cannot. If you're breaking off with a Palomar, time to practice your knots. If there's ANY kink or bend in the line after you cinch the tag end, then start over because it's gonna fail. Smallie on 6# fluoro, with a palomar: Brown Trout 8# Fluoro, Palomar: Steelhead, 6# Fluoro Palomar: Largemouth, 12# fluoro, Palomar: Drum, 6# Fluoro, Palomar: Invisx 6 and 8#, Trilene 100% 10 and 12#, Shooter in 20# all work well for me.

New Idea ?!?!?
Not exactly the same, but I've used a Casting Bubble from Rainbow plastics to fish a fly on spin gear. Lund, why not just leave a long tag end on the mainline to the swivel knot, and attach the split shot there? That's how we rig our bottom bouncers for the salmon runs. You get caught in the river bottom, just yank, and the split shot slides off.

Tactics For Deep Clear Lake Smallies
I've used the float and fly since the early 90s, and never had any luck calling fish from deep with it. It's almost always a tool for current, or wind blown points in water up to about 8' deep. Good tool for finicky fish, but probably the last thing I'd try in deep water - UNLESS the were suspended, which usually happens near a point or shallow structure anyway.

Tournaments
Your only exposure is probably what you may have seen on TV with the pros. It is what you make it. My method is to have fun first. I keep it loose on my boat. When you are relaxed, you are able to fish better, with confidence. The only time it can be work, is when the weather doesn't cooperate. Some might go home, and wait for better weather. I'd probably be fishing anyway. It's basically going fishing with a bunch of buddies, except at the beginning of the day, you put some money on the table. You'll learn new things, meet new people, and you might win a couple bucks once in a while.

Here's some reports from my perspective. Maybe that'll give you something to chew on: Boater: Non/Co: Do a search for "Flower City" in the My Trips forum, and you can find a bunch more from me.

Tournaments
Utter nonsense. It's like saying don't play softball if you aren't the next Pujols. Tournaments are a great way to learn new skills and hone the ones you already posess.
