  1. They just don't coexist around here, outside the spawn. I do catch quite a few smallmouth that puke up white bass and white perch...
  2. These bans are made law based purely on emotion about protecting loons. Once these guys start making presentations to lawmakers and the public, it's all but over: http://www.tufts.edu/vet/loons/ At least in NY, the ban is just one the sale of lead. Using lead is still allowed. A little shout out here for my friends in PA, heh.
  3. I use a spring scale, and a straight pull. 1/4 to 1/3 the line's break strength or rod's max. load, whichever is lower. It is unnecessary to loosen you drags, unless you are storing the reels for a long time.
  4. That would be my recommendation as well. The Ascend is a good "get you in the door" boat, but isn't the most durable. Treat it well, and you'll enjoy many trips in it.
  5. I've never spent more than $5 for original senkos. If you keep your eyes peeled you'll find sales. DSG runs them 2/$10 quite frequently. Combine that with a 10% off $50 coupon, and you are golden.
  6. Hey I know some of those guys! Nice work everyone.
  7. Not that I've seen. Though smallmouth will attack anything that threatens their bed.
  8. All depends on the boat. My Xpress is a tank, but also fast. It's not very light, and only a little worse than many glass boats in the wind. I beat the snot out of mine, and get to go reasonably fast. The ride can get a little rough, but rough to me is rough in any boat.
  9. That little splash totally looks like fleeing baitfish, works well when there are bass and bait in proximity. One of my favorite spinnerbait tricks.
  10. That's what I meant. You guys are slow today, LOL.
  11. It's a premix? 50:1 should be fine in a weed whacker.
  12. Okuma would be the one I'd get too.
  13. I'm looking ahead to when they face real teams with real coaching.
  14. Mod-fast just means more of the rod bends, when it bends. It takes a lot of force to get that rod to bend.
  15. You wouldn't know it. The situation is transparent. That's why it sounded strange to me. Carry on.
  16. I'm adopted. My dad has never referred to me as his adopted son. My grandfather wouldn't have made the distinction between the three natural children or four adopted kids either. Just seemed lIke a strange context to make the distinction.
  17. I don't think you are going to find a rod that throws that large a range of baits real well.
  18. That's what I was thinking, and I'm a Cowboys fan. Woo hoo! They BARELY won a game in OT they should have dominated.
  19. Lawn mower, snowblower, weed whacker, etc.
  20. Your adopted son? Hmmm....
  21. I always knew you were an alien, this just proves it! Seriously though, I agree about the eradication part. In NY, you are compelled to kill any gobies you catch. Really? "Seaweed Jeffrey?" There are trillions of the things in our lakes. All this means is some redneck will proudly leave a pile of dead fish behind to stink up local parks and boardwalks. Leaves a really nice impression for non anglers to see. Makes us look like wasteful slobs.
  22. Almost no flow, so float. No way to bottom bounce, though I pretty much never do that. I used a Raven SS3 3.0g float, and a Mad River Trout worm. I don't know why I lost the other four. My hookup rate is usually better than that.
  23. I think you will just end up with bigger, older stripers in lower quantities. Their trout and salmon fishery is in serious jeopardy, and they are desperate to fix it. From what I've read, it's mostly a habitat issue. Write your leaders, and tell them to get rid of all the dams.
  24. Any creek that has water is loaded. I went today from 11-2:30 and landed two, lost four.
  25. I don't have a pic of my pb, but I scratched my rod blank with the length and it was 37". In the pic of the hen above, the reel is a 5" centre pin for reference.
