I'm catching fish with my hard baits that I couldn't catch by other means. Some are bigger, but all in all, it's like it's a different type of fish altogether. Fatter, smaller head, football shaped.

Two things. One these are all moving baits. Have you tried a Texas rigged worm or a jig and craw trailer? Maybe a T-rigged creature bait? Second, are you sure you are on fish?

Panfish lures can be anywhere from 1/4 or 1/8 oz. to as little as 1/100 oz. Spinning reels and fairy wands are the recommended gear.

You haven't even started college, and you're stressing? Take a deep breath man, and step back. You will come up with the best plan for you, but don't kill yourself over it. Community/Junior college, ROTC, Military, all good plans. You don't have to map out the next ten years right now, just one or two. A job doing something you like, without too many hours, will help you feel better about all the loans you are taking out.

I use a pre IPC Avid AC62MXF. It has a shorter rear grip, a really fast recovery time when twitching or popping, and with a fish on, bends more like a moderate action rod. The length is just right for a short guy like me. This rod works fine for Spooks, Sammies, Pointers, Deep Diver Pointers, Staysees, etc.

OK, dumb question time....why would you even bother fishing an open hook in cover? That's like saying, "I hate it when my rattle trap gets stuck in the lily pads." Wrong tool. Use one these if you're in cover:

Between the rods I have, a MH/mod will suit you better than a medium.

And what part of, "Here's a list of the reels they no longer service:" do I need to reread? You need to reread what I said. Parts are available, I ordered a line guide and some bearings for a B just a few months ago.

In NY, we have a club chapter "NONE" that we use to fish BASS Chapter Fed trail. Maybe you have something similar. Can you email your fed pres? He should be able to help you.

They might not be selling them. It may also be a case of it being cheaper to have them do it, then pay for the parts and shipping and DIY.

It's like that with me and the Esox guys. I love pike fishing, and make a few trips every fall and spring for big ones. But I just use MH bass gear, and a few basic pike lures. Pike are stupid, and they are either biting or not. It's light switch with them - no tricking them. Now, I say that to my Esox buddies....all hell breaks loose, LOL.
