  1. Put up, or shut up, guys. 8-)
  2. Not really. I'd rather BE strong, than LOOK strong. And not "gym strong" either.
  3. Yeah, you missed the motor's value on nada which would add another $1,200 and the trailer which I couldn't pull up but could be another $1,200. That would bring the price up into the same range. Also, it doesn't matter what the asking price is on used boats, its the price of the ones selling that counts. This one would probably sell for $6k if it was on the market for $7k. Just my opinion. Ok, the motor, then. But the trailer was in the price. And, that's what I was getting at. Nothing around here is selling for that high - trust me, I'm looking right now. And another thing to figure in is that southern boats get way more UV exposure and wear and tear. Northern boats sit in storage for 6 months.
  4. And you'll five minutes from lovely Onandoga Lake.. LMAO.
  5. They are decent. A little heavy, but decent reels. I had a few of the silver Capricorn version.
  6. Nice, deep depth of field. Clone the goobers out, though. Some old Stanley Spinnerbaits for ya:
  7. Where are you talking about? When? If you mean nasty crap growing in Braddocks in July, then no. If you mean a weed edge on something deeper, like I-bay, then sure. Have a few sizes available. Start light, and work your way up. There's no one right answer here.
  8. I'll get the ball rolling, Frank. It can be as simple as a typical jig. Change the trailer, and change the profile and fall rate.
  9. You just mad jealous. I told you to hit up UR for grad school, and we can fish every day.
  10. Beautiful!
  11. Its usually vs. your state record, and by species. Dwight Hottle smoked my 5 lb. smallie last time I entered, and I'm still angry, LOL.
  12. Because the simplest explanation isn't nearly as much fun.
  13. Looks like it was attacked by an Elaztech bait. Its not a Culprit worm, though - base of the tail is way too short.
  14. Yep, we can go on about that too, didn't want to confuse the issue. Sounds like he just wants to go to the store, and pick out some jigs. Rate of Fall (ROF) can be tweaked with weight of the jig, or trailer profile. Even the skirt can have an effect. I think the success of the heavier finesse jigs is due to maximum fall rate, not the thin, muddler skirt. We can probably go on and on, and complicate/confuse, but I'll stand by 1/2 and 3/4 oz. weedless jigs (I use Outkast RT Jigs) in blue and black will be a good start. Next question will be trailer.....easy black Zoom Super Chunk. You'll catch fish.
  15. Its also going to depend on which Milfoil...EU or domestic, LOL. I can see 1+ oz. on Oneida. Some spots are real thick there. Closer to home, at the City Dump, you seldom need more than 3/8 oz.
  16. Those are good little cameras, bought my mom one years ago, and still ticking. I think its all of 5MP (all you need anyway). Must be awful sticking 15-20lb. fish of the wrong color like that.
  17. Depends on the trailer, and bulk of it, and thickness of the cover. I most often fish milfoil with a 1/2 oz. or 3/4 oz. jig, though.
  18. Funny you bring that up....I actually had a Shimano Steelhead rod break on the 1st fish, a dinky 8 lb. brown trout, and when I went to Gander to exchange it, they said they no longer did this for rods, since all broken rods were the customer's fault. This one wasn't my fault, and I explained that I didn't come back with the five Kistlers that snapped that probably weren't all my fault, but this one broke on the 1st fish! I just stood and complained until I got my justified exchange.
  19. In the case of these rods, it'll be pretty easy to tell, if the rod beds completely over on a 12" fish, then its the genuine article, LOL.
  20. Clunn's a freak. But yeah, I suppose he gets a free pass. But I think you see the point. He is still actively competing.
  21. That's been debated before. It's probably got more to do with actual number of claims made. Besides, isn't that a factor when buying rods? I mean, I used begrudge the extra premium that I felt was being charged, but now I've done a 180 on that. I will ONLY fish rods with a replacement service plan. And its not a warranty - its a service.
  22. Boggles the mind that someone would have the gall to make a profit, LOL. When I ran retail, items up to about $100 retail were triple the cost.
  23. Old schoolers that invented the sport and the opportunities within the sport get a free pass. The notion that pros don't use what they say they use is shady to me.
  24. Doesn't matter what they're using, though the idea that they are endorsing gear, or creating signature models is a more than a little shady. The point is, this is the crap they're selling. Apparently that does mean a lot to many more anglers than I'd care to think. Its comical to me to see bright yellow, white, or orange rods whipping around on another boat in the distance. Then again, who am I to talk with my bright yellow yak, and conspicuous blue rods......
