If it goes in on trade, they probably did. That's what its worth wholesale. I bought a perfect condition '76 ford sedan with 26K miles on it. The little old lady said it was never in the rain. The first day it rained, the car was full of water. A rear window clip was installed from the factory incorrectly, and it leaked. I payed $700 for that car in 1997. Drove it for three years, and sold it for $700. It wasn't worth anymore than that. Decent car, that was reliable until I started messing with it to try and get some more juice out of the Windsor 351. Unless there is something VERY special about an older vehicle, they simply aren't worth much. For $5K you can do a lot better. But if you really want it, get it. I'm sure it will serve you well. If you do get it, I recommend you drive it into the ground, because you'll never get any resale value back out of it. One question, does it have the "Splash" graphics option? ;D
  2. Same point I made above. For the record, my 13' Browning Six Rivers is about as sensitive as your hand in a bowl of ice water. Which brings up a totally different discussion involving what differences are in fishing style that overcome rods with a lack of sensitivity. It was stated above that Fish Chris could catch fish with a $40 Lightning Rod, and I agree. And I don't think its 100% about reading water, and fishing productively. I know when I used lesser rods, line watching was a big deal for me. Still is. Reading the graph to determine bottom composition, instead of feeling it through a jig would be another.
  3. What are you talking about? I'm comparing an apple (bass rod) to a bowl of Jell-O (float rod). The point is sensitivity has NOTHING to do with just the line, just the blank, just the weight, just the action, just whatever. Sensitivity boils down to everything from the bait to your hands. Not all hands were created equal, bye the way. I see way too many generalizations being tossed out here, that have nothing to do with the original question, which I believe is built around quite a bit of misinformation.

My wife is a title insurer at a local car auction. Trucks like that go for auction for about $750. Mileage doesn't matter, its a 13 year old vehicle.
  5. I agree you should vote, but I don't agree with the second half of that statement. Voting is only one part of the process. Once the election is over, you need to tell your representative what you want them to do. Over and over. Everyone does. Look at it this way: so, I voted. My person didn't win. I'll go home and whine for the next 2/4/6 years because I earned the right whine. Uhhhh...NO!!!! Write your elected official, and tell them your concerns with specific issues, and how you want them to act on them. That's WAYYYY more important than actually voting. Voting gets you a sticker and a badge on Foursquare. Communicating with your elected representatives gets things done. Sometimes.

That truck is worth about $1500 to $2000.
  7. Shouldn't make any difference, spinning, casting, fast action, slow action, or otherwise. It comes down to the total package. My buddy has a 15' Avid Trout Float Rig rod. This rod is as slow as they come, and is a three piece blank. You can feel the fish take the bait, even under a bobber with a 6' shot line and 3' leader. You can actually tell the difference between a spawn bag dancing across a rock, and a fish slithering by the bait. That is a sensitive stick! I've fished other rods that I simply could not feel the fish take, and I have what I call "soft hands." I'd love to hear from a rodbuilder's point of view. Surprised none have shown up.
  8. Not SiC. They run $50 a set for 6-7' rod. They probably Aluminum Oxide.
  9. Uhhh, wouldn't signing Moss demand that Kitna pass the ball? yeah, that's gonna happen, guy can't even execute a hand off.
  10. If it gets people to get out and vote, then I can live with it....certainly less annoying, and easier to ignore than the fifteen pounds or so of full page, heavy stock campaign ads that have been overflowing my mailbox. Even my three year old gets a copy!
  11. I've never had an issue buying tackle on eBay, this forum, or elsewhere for that matter. Perhaps it was just a stroke of bad luck.
  12. They're regional ads, and what makes it difficult is we're getting different ads displayed, based on location.
  13. Go ahead and write your letters, but you'll need to do some research and come up with solid evidence for your case. And that probably won't be enough. The fact that there are bigger fish in there probably means that the shore anglers aren't making a dent in the large bass population. Most of the shore anglers I see are simply fishing for dinner. They're fishing shallow, and probably won't encounter anything other than barely legal keeper bass and sunnies. Yeah, they may score a lunker, but they're far and few between. Your best bet is to encourage voluntary release of the big ones. Explain to them th reason there are so many small ones is that 99% of the bass don't make it past 3 lbs. Anything over 5 lbs. is one in many thousands. Those 7 lb.+ hogs are one in a million.
  14. Waiver picks go in reverse order by record. He'll get snagged before NE even has a chance.
  15. Buffalo, Washington, or KC. Any of those teams make the most sense.
  16. You have a thing for dirty dogs?

With both these baits, you're probably fishing them too fast. You want them barely moving, with brief pauses. You're trying to mimic a distracted, feeding fish, not a swimming fish.
  18. SF's young pitching staff really stepped up to the plate (mound). They simply showed confidence and swagger while executing their pitches. I really thought that the Rangers would get two wins, and from Lee. What do I know. As boring a match up as this looked on paper, it certainly had some drama. Congrats to San Francisco!
  19. You must have some kind of fishing in the winter? I know there's at least one river in that state, LOL. I hit Lake Ontario tribs for trout all winter long. Its cold, but its a blast, and easy to do.

  22. 1. I run three on three off on my Calcutta, but I'm tossing BIG baits. 2. Only if the OE bearings are shot. I simple cleaning of the OE bearings, and drop of quality oil usually brings about huge improvements over the stock setup. 3. The Calcutta has Abec 5 ceramic hybrids, and there is a noticeable difference in that reel. I have three TD-X reels, all with Office ZPI bearings, and while they're fast, they were plenty fast before. I had a couple of Procaster/Capricorns that were pretty beat, and new bearings (Orange Seals) brought them back to life. I've done several upgrades for others' reels as well. Usually if I find a bad bearing, we go ahead and replace the spool bearings with Orange Seals or Smooth Drags bearings. They're almost always less expensive than OEM parts, and sometimes better. Some top end reels have pretty nice bearings that are hard to beat.
  23. I started the year with six Slim Shads in Aurora black. All were stolen by northerns. Caught tons of bass with them. The other crank is a Spro Aruku Shad, and I have three copies of about four colors in two sizes.
