New secret topwater bait?
The LC Gunfish comes in 3", 4", and 4.5". The 3" is a bit "stubbier" in profile. What pro was using it?

Identify This Fish - I'm Stumped!
Yeah the teeth thing got me as well. Could just be a big old bass, in fact the more i look at it, I think that's it. Edit: actually I think its some Esox sp. Pike or pickerel. Those teeth are too big, and you can see pores in the bottom jaw.

Attractant
More likely trout and salmon, given location. Salmonoids have a much more developed olfactory system than bass, and scent plays a big part in getting bit, or driving biters away. Yes, oils from human skin will drive them away from lures.

'Bass fishing bullies', or what???
Why is this even about tournaments? Nothing was said that they were in a tournament. Many own bass boats, and don't fish tournaments. Really, this is simply about etiquette and perception. It sounds like those guys would have probably done the same thing in a kayak or float tube.

Flower City Sportsmen - Buffalo Harbor 6/27
Woo Hoo! Lake Erie! Team format, best five fish per boat. Wind was calm, temps were warm, skies were hazy. Looked like a good day for fishing, and most everyone reported catching limits early, and upgrading often. Many smallmouth, along with some nice largemouth were brought to the scales. The launch was a little weird, but the parking shuttle was cool. Pulling out was a madhouse - made Sodus look like little league, LOL. Results: Dan S. and Gary F. had a nice 3 lb. 11 oz. largemouth that edged out "New Guy" Felix's smallmouth by one ounce for the lunker award. Perry D. and Ron W. brought in a mixed bag good enough to make third. Nguyen H. and John F. had five smallies that held up for second place. Bill L. and his son Shawn weighed in a nice bag of brown fish for a solid win. Shawn reported that all the fish were caught in one little cove in the harbor. Sounds like quite a spot! Pics: 1st place, Bill and son, Shawn. 2nd place, Nguyen and John (behind camera). 3rd Place, Ron and Perry (not shown, too ugly). Lunker, Dan and Gary (not pictured). Felix' smallie could'a been a contender! Shawn, stealing, errr...accepting the prize money. Final Results. Now, on to the "my day" report. Nguyen and I had no idea what to do, where to go, nothing, nada. So, we made our way to the river mouth, where we were met by tons of smallies crashing bait on the surface. We're like, "Ohhhhhh yeah, its on!" After a couple minutes, I ask Nguyen if he needs some help with the trolling motor, cause we're moving pretty fast. He looks up, and yeah, we're basically in a barrel, headed for the falls, LOL. No way to fish that spot without the big motor running. Oh well. We finally find some off shore structure after about a half hour of searching, and Nguyen bangs a nice smallie on a vibration bait, our biggest of the day. After that, it was five hours of watching others drift this same spot, rods bent every few minutes, and us with nothing. We did a little exploring in the middle of that stretch, but decided to stick out that one structure spot, since we knew there were fish. Our determination payed off in the last hour or so, and we were able to get a limit of fish, and even an upgrade. I think we had eight or nine bites, not counting the drum and the rocky, and outside that first fish, they all came on drop shot Gulp! minnows. I think this was Nguyen's first time fishing drop shot and drifting deep water, and really took to it. On the way back to the weigh in, we figured we had about 12 lbs, not enough to show, but at least it was a limit. As it turns out, we were the only boat to leave the harbor, despite the calm seas, and we had enough to take second. Very surprised, and very weird, to say the least. I'll take the refund on the fees, though, LOL. Next up - Chautauqua 2-day 7/10 - 7/11!!!!!!

Anyone ever thought about volunteering?
It isn't that its complicated, just involves common sense, which is uncommon these days.

out of curiousity, yes. You asked for it..... I really like turtles.

FIshing for trophies
1. Pick water that has all the prerequisites for sustaining big fish. 2. Fish the areas that feature the best available structure. 3. Fish slower, somewhat deeper, and with somewhat bigger baits.

Flower City Sportsman - Fairhaven 6/19
Opening day! Team format, best five fish per boat, fishing limited to Little Sodus Bay only. Winds were out of the south, making the bay pretty choppy. However, all boats were able to bring a limit to the weigh in. These bays can all fish tough in these conditions, and add in many other boats out fishing opening day, along with the pleasure boaters that this popular destination attracts, and you got a wild day on the water. Results.... Three ounces separated the top three finishers Bill L. and Guy P. brought in a respectable mixed bag, Guy P. catching the ONLY smallie brought to the scales for third. Very odd, since this is smallie central, LOL. I hear all their fish were caught on jigs in weeds - what's new. Terry B. and John F. came in to the scales with one ounce more fish than the third place finishers. John fished hard swimbaits and big vibration baits, while Terry worked to keep the boat straight in the chop and high winds. Terry did manage to catch a 3-0 LMB, the biggest in our creel, on a weighted Senko. Terry sacrificed much of his fishing to keep the boat steady for me to fish our spot off the back. Web L. and new guy Felix broke Web's new boat in by beating out the rest by a slim margin of two ounces. Some pics from the day: Web L. and Felix, 1st place Terry B., 2nd place (John F. on other side of the camera): Guy P. and Bill L., 3rd place Two happy guys! Results:
