  1. Get a Daiwa Goldcast. Far superior to anything else in this arena.
  2. http://www.strikepro.com.tw/newitem/eg113.html
  3. Surface temps on the lake were 65. In the bay, 70. bay is post spawn. Didn't find too much in the lake, try 20-30' first. A few fish in shallow, but not the hoards yet that I was hoping for, given the temps.
  4. Port Bay. Thanks Big-O.
  5. 7-2: 10" Worm 6-8, 6-5, 6-2, 2x 6-0: Jig 6-1: Frog 6-2: spinnerbait It isn't really what you throw, its where.
  6. Googly (Roger) and I set out to my favorite place, this time in his boat. With the holiday, I knew boat traffic would be ridiculous, and by 10 AM, it was. Tons of boats anchored up, sunbathers, and drinkers. I have to say, the scenery at The City Dump is a bit better than P-Bay, LOL. It was a hot, clear, and beautiful day. Surface temps were 69-70. Unfortunately, most fish were post spawn already. Seems like they just moved up to bed last week, and sadly, now its over. No monster rock bass today. No monster anything really. The numbers game of the past several weeks has vanished. We did catch though. I had a few swimbait fish, and burned through an entire jar of Gulp! Alive Crazy Legs Jerk Shads. Roger caught on a mid crank, and very lightly weighted plastics. Nothing, not even a whiff on jigs or creatures - very surprising for this bay. The bedding sunnies were just murder as well. Their beds were deeper than years past, probably due to water being down about 20". I even caught on a big Magic Swmmer! I wish I had taken a few more photos, but I kept waiting for a truly picture worthy fish tat never materialized. Late in the afternoon, I managed to hit a decent smallie off bed. He was a real bulldog. Afterward, Pier One for burgers, and then headed home. As always, Roger was a gracious host. Thanks for another good time!
  7. 1-15 is what's listed on the DEC site, and its 26 years old! Time for that one to go!
  8. You almost never hear a report, good or bad, from either MK or MG. Glad to hear you were treated well.
  9. Made from the same mold.
  10. Watch the video, and learn. :
  11. Lake Ontario and Finger Lakes. There are active beds, cruising prespawn females, and a million rats looking to steal your bait. Pick your poison, if it gets wet, it will get bit.
  12. Its the same as the Vixen, which is proven.
  13. Some of the green junk might actually be from algae. Braid tends to pick up more of this than other mono filament lines.
  14. If he did any other way than this, its wrong: To fix, let out a 100 yards or so of line behind the boat (without anything attached) troll for a few minutes, and then reel in under tension.
  15. Yep, but with a hollow frog, and all the time. Gets annoying.
  16. If its for a tournament, I leave the hook in the tongue, until just before weigh in. I've removed them before, and fish did not fair well, and there was a weight penalty. If its just a dink, and you think you'll probably cull, then I'd say remove it, and release the fish.
  17. Troll your line out behind you, and the twist will go away. You probably spooled up wrong, and respooling wrongly won't fix anything. here's a nice tidbit from the Shimano FAQ that describes the process well:
  18. Bass caught by guys named "Snook" don't count! Congrats buddy - that's a good start!
  19. That's the ONLY reason I'll get to play with one....my buddy thinks the palm side graphics are pimp.
  20. Treat your line with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, and this pretty much goes away. Helps the braid hold the color longer as well.
  21. The price won't fall......Daiwa reels have gone up the past few years. I'll be able to play with one soon. I'm not expecting much over the Anny model, outside of bling.
  22. They're all durable reels. If you have the funds, the Curado would be my choice, out of those reels, even though I fish Daiwa.
  23. Forgot the jokey smile, my mistake. Enjoy:
