Go for the big bite this year or numbers?
Not going to break the state record, but here's a sampling of my biggest fish from last year. LMB: 6-0: jig 6-8: jig 6-1: Spro Frog 6-4: jig SMB: 5-0: drop shot 4" worm That's the bait....the location and timing is what is more important.

advice on this ad...
Here's a link about title replacement in MA. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/registration/#replacement You might make this a condition of the sale. There's a lot of people from MA here that might be able to clue you in on the process.

Title will be a PITA. Had pretty much the same boat in the 90s. Its still kicking. The floor looks pretty tore up, and looks like it may need to be replaced. My guess is any wiring needs to be replaced as well. Get the outboard checked by a mechanic, and try to get it on the water for a test drive. Keep in mind littel things like wiring, TM plugs, trailer lights, etc add up, so check everything, and make a list of what will need repair/replacing. Sounds like a good deal to me, if all checks out.

New Electronics soon - Were do I start??
I don't have an overly complicated model, HB 383c Combo, and sitting with it in Demo Mode, while working through the manual helped immensely before getting on the water.

Going to buy side imaging - any last words?
You can't use SI when your navigating on plane so the 798 is the same as any other finder and only provides depth. But you can use GPS and graph split screen, and it is a bit too small.

It moves water, not air.

Get a scale!
What do you want to know? Wet it down, put the fish on it, pinch the jaws, spread the tail, and read the length. *************************************** You'd think I lost a bet with the hat, LMAO....I actually wear it a lot.

Three casting reels
Mine fit the price criteria, if bought used, like I did... 1a. Alphas Ai for hard jerks 1b. Zillion HSA for soft jerks (that is out of the $$$ range) 1c. Sol for wakes 2. Alphas Ai 3. Sol

curado roughness
what grease on earth is not high tack If you actually handled the two lubes mentioned, you'd know exactly what he means by "high tack." Drag grease is WAYYYY sticky, LOL.

looking for good quality travel rod
That reel is a little small, but it would work. I have a Stradic 1000FG on a 6' M/F I use for skipping light stuff under docks, and slider rigs, and I'd really prefer a 2500 series, simply for the bigger spool and less twist. I run 6# Silverthread AN40 on this rod.

Soron vs Tierra
My uncle ran "Big Al" salmon charter out of Port Bay for more than 20 years. Penns served him just fine. Anyway, surfcasting isn't the same environment as a charter boat. I service quite a few of these reels, and Penns are fine. Cheapo reels from any brand don't last.

what causes bass to fade?
There is a special version, just for my bud, Kasey, LOL.
-
what causes bass to fade?
No sun penetration, no melanin in the skin. Think of it as a tan. Deep water fish from early in the season: Late summer, shallow fish:

Soron vs Tierra
You do realize you dissed one of the toughest reels on the planet?

Get a scale!

Nice smallie! For kayak tournaments, we use these rulers, or "Hawg Troughs." They work pretty well, once you educate people how to use them:

Fishing Ban?
You're too late. The opportunity ended now. This was news in October (see original thread above). Guess what, no one listened. Personally, I don't see how they can enact anything that would affect the recreational angler, but I don't like the lack of distinction between us and commercial fishing.

Things you believe could or should be banned...
If you think that banning senkos has anything to do with mortality, that wasn't the point, LOL. Ban them and some guys will actually have to learn how to fish.

4. The weigh in.

Get a scale!
A couple more that show its perspective, not really focal length. Same fish in both again. 27mm 40mm

Get a scale!
I agree, focal length plays a part, but really its the relationship of lens distance to the subject and subject distance to the background. Its just easier to amplify perspectve with a shorter focal length. For me, unless its a picture of a bass on a scale, or ruler board, its a capture moment of the event - far more important than the actual size of the fish. Smiles, friendship, etc mean more than any big fish. To show you what I mean: 17mm 19mm Same basic focal length, yet the second doesn't exhibit the same exaggeration because the distance from lens to fish, and lens person is almost equal.
