  1. 1. 7' 2. 6'-2" 3. 6'-2" I'd go all 7'ers, but I'm not that tall, so a shorter rod doesn't slap the water when fishing hard jerkbaits and topwaters (same rod).
  2. I'd add a fuse to the positive line. I think its a 3 amp, but someone might verify that - been a while.
  3. All do not take ounces to balance, and the proper balance point is where it feels good to the user. Once again, this is subjective, not written in stone.
  4. If all you're going to use it for is pitchin and froggin' in slop, take a look at the Revo S. Tough little reel, all you really need. If you want the Curado, also a great reel.
  5. Maybe that would work for you. I don't catch dinks. 8-)
  6. Its not "seeing the display" that is the problem. Its the slice. Bigger is better, in this case. If it works fine for you, you have probably not tasted the forbidden fruit...
  7. The "jig worm" has saved the day many times for me.
  8. This came up on a local forum recently, and I was under the same impression as you. I've never foul hooked a fish that counted in a tournament, so cannot really comment on what I'd do. I guess its legal, so if it culls... Making a rule disqualifying any foul hooked fish from being weighed in would eliminate any snagging from the equation altogether.
  9. Six of one, half dozen of another. That 24 lb. of drag pressure doesn't hold up in bench tests I have run on reels in service, so its a non factor if you ask me. I personally snapped my own XH frog rod in half "testing" a customer reel out on a 3 lb. slop fish, LOL. I think that reel was set at 9 lbs. drag resistance.
  10. Foul hooked is not the same as snagging....one is intentional, the other is not.
  11. What's the rod and reel, what size cranks, and do you mean soft or hard swimbaits, and how big on those too?
  12. Paul, if you have to add ounces to balance a rod, there's a big problem with it. I'm talking the equivalent of a few of BB size split shot.
  13. Yer all wrong, its the wrong color.
  14. I think what you're asking is which adds more "curb appeal." It would depend on the potential buyer. For me, the electronics would be more of a draw than the Power Pole, but I fish deeper than most. I will admit, the Power Poles look pretty sweet....
  15. I'd try the Contact Us link on their website, for a start. http://www.damiki.co.kr/eng/sub.html?s=6
  16. Jeez, that bait IS bad....and I thought I was a shmo for buying a pack of those Heddon things years ago, LOL.
  17. I got these for fishing....
  18. There was an episode of Hunt for Big Fish with a great segment where larry showed off a simple fulcrum and scale arrangement, and explained the benefits. For me, its really relative. It either feels good or it doesn't. I've added weight to the butt of some pitching/flipping sods, with good results. For the most part, slightly tip heavy works for me. But is mostly a try it out and see deal for me. One rod fished horribly with a particular reel on it. Switch out that reel with a different one, and the whle system was improved.
  19. Actually, that isn't true. There is no provision for foul hooked bass in the NYDEC Fishing Guide. Now salmonoids....that's another story. Intentional foul hooking, or snatching is always prohibited.
  20. Stress, like anger can be a very useful tool, channeled correctly. A life without either would be truly boring.
  21. KVD was sitting on a bass "hunting trail," or a submerged channel in a creek arm, with a flats area adjacent to it containing stumps. Flats + Stumps + warming water says vibe bait all day to me. He had a spot that was refilling as he caught, and he knew it. Note that he was trying to deflect that bait off the stump, while mentioning the "yo yo" technique, and the flutter of the bait on the fall. The more I watch this on the DVR, the more I think it had to do with location, and specifically, the exact location of each cast.
  22. This is one reason to buy from a brick and mortar....you can inspect the reel you're purchasing before buying.
  23. No different than adding a small treble to the top arm of a buzzbait or a stinger to a soft swimbait.
  24. Helicopter Lure or Flying Lure works better, LOL. Seriously, this and a few other topics are verboten here, simply because the get rehashed ad nauseum. Take a look at Zoom Super Flukes, Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad, and Lunker City Slug-Os for proven baits without all the infomercial hype.
  25. Back then people gave bad advice, too. I recall my father spooling up his Quick 4000 with 20 lb. Stren, on the recommendation from the guy in the bait shop. I learned how to cuss that day.
