  1. I look for one with a white belly, and something with some contrast that I can see easily in the water, during low light. Spooks are more about the walking action and silhouette than actual color.
  2. They get plenty of love here. Do a little digging, there's even a thread of guys showing off their souped up, customized Ambassedeurs.
  3. Meh, what pedal do you like better?
  4. I generally remove the tail hook on three hooked jerk baits. Too many hooks in the eyes.
  5. Luck Craft made a 100 size solid wood Sammy that was perfect for smallies.
  6. Guides and hardware CAN make a differnce. Avids do feel crisper than Mojos.
  7. 7' is a good all around length. You can cover almost 90% of your fishing with a MH/F and M/F.
  8. Wd-40 is not a de-greaser, that can be rinsed. It is not a solvent, though is contains some. Use something like Perfect Solution for parts, and pure acetone from a beauty products supplier. 9. From our Fishing Glossary:
  10. Nice Work!
  11. I have used both. What @RichF said. I don't like micros as much, and prefer a full rear grip for most applications, so it's Avid for me. I probably have 20 of them. If you have any questions on a particular model, just ask.
  12. Weightless, in my case last night wouldn't cut it. One and half ounce jika punch rigs, tossed 2-3' into these weeds. They weren't huge, but one of my favorite ways to fish. Hand to hand combat, in the kayak!
  13. They did this at an Elite event on Oneida years ago. Conditions were not safe on Oneida, so they moved to the tiny Onandaga for the final day.
  14. I was fishing for squirrels.
  15. Great explanation of what exactly "grease" is. I'll take a pass on the WD-40 and the motor oil. Way too heavy for any bearing application on any modern reels. On an old reel with brass bushings, sure they may need some nursing. But WD-40? Never goes anywhere near my reels.
  16. Siebert Bullet Jig: http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Bullet-Jig-420.htm With a matching Rage Tail Chunck trailer: http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Rage-Chunk-411.htm Just an FYI, I had a ton of surfacing fish last night. They were walleye going nuts on in shore baitfish. The bass I was catching were holding very tight to heavy cover, despite all the activity. Something to chew on.
  17. When you're on the internet, no one can tell if you're using "slang." So, try to use proper terms when you know them, if you don't know them, then just ask. It helps if we're speaking the same language. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/bass_fishing.html
  18. Hollow body frogs or get in there, and punch those weeds with a heavy jig or punch rig.
  19. In the water, not the trees.
  20. Some bass will relocate, some return to the original site. It's not the best idea, but the stringer clips are no worse than a cull tag. Any fish released that swims stands a better chance than one that gets filleted. If you're actually concerned about spawning beds, either don't target them, or immediately release them near the site. I've caught hundreds of bass that when immediately released near the spawning bed, they return. That said, always remember your measuring tools. And a camera. I've seen bass on beds as late as early August on northern lakes. It's unusual, very unusual, but not impossible. Though I think he was probably referring to just where it lived, not an actual spawning site.
  21. If you're a good bank fisherman, you fish almost parallel to the shore in a pond as described.
  22. You're kidding right? There's a billion and one threads dealing with that since the beginning of braid. That has to be the most often cited reason for using a leader. I think in most cases, it's hooey. I use a leader for other reasons, or more often use straight whatever leader I'd use. In most cases, I feel like the "best of both worlds" argument is actually combining the worst traits of both.
