  1. Are you talking about the roller at the winch, or the one between the bunks? I'll try to get a pic of mine tonight.
  2. Let's eat Grampa. Let's eat, Grampa. Semantics matter, man.
  3. Put a plastic bag, a bottle, and a plastic worm in a bucket of water. Chances all three will be there in 6 months. Not sure what difference the chemical make up of any of them matter.
  4. Welcome aboard.
  5. You might want to see if there's a trailer specialist locally. We have a good one up here that really helped me get fixed up when some idiot hit mine. You should be able to just drive on with the bunks 1/2 to 2/3 submerged. And, yes the bow strap runs UNDER the bow bump stop.
  6. Cortland Toothy Critter in 10# is your best option. My buddy, Maico1, is using another product, but I can't remember what it is. Same idea - easy to tie on your mainline.
  7. Either the bunks, the roller or the winch are out of wrack. Everything should line up. Is the trailer the original?
  8. Crisco is more toxic to fish than a senko.
  9. Carbonlight or PQ. The CL is on sale for the same price as the PQ.
  10. There's quite a bit of recent data about trout mortality and plastics. I know In-Fisherman has reported on it within the past year or so. They'll list the source, if you can find the article.
  11. Take a look at Jeff Little's site: http://www.blueridgekayakfishing.com/.%C2'> He's one of the finest river smallie fisherman I know.
  12. You'd think with over 40 years of plastics being used for so many species of fish, and the hysterics of those that claim we are killing fish, that all the fish would be dead. I'm not saying dump your plastics overboard - to the contrary, try to keep the lake clean and dispose of worn out plastics properly - but I don't feel one ounce of guilt if I lose a plastic bait.
  13. They're fun on a light flyrod when they are eating bugs on top. White Bass are temperate bass from the Percichthyid family, which includes striped bass and white perch. Largemouth and smallmouth (black bass) are Centrarchids, which includes sunfish, crappie, rockies, warmouth, blue gill, and pumpkinseeds. Yellow perch are part of the perch family, which run the gamut of walleye to little darters.
  14. I only peg in wood or pads. In heavy grass, I've been using a big jika rig instead of a punch rig.
  15. What baits? Braid does not hold up very well to pickerel, tigers, and pike. I use a 30-60# fluoro leader when I target northern pike. A contact bait will be dragged down by the weight of the leader. Spinnerbaits don't seem to be affected, but I use fairly heavy baits. Take a look at Cortland Toothy Critter in 10 and 20 lb. size. It's tieable, and very tough. Bass don't seem to mind it at all.
  16. All I want besides my truck is a Dinan 5 series wagon. That would be a sweet kayak fishing car.
  17. I agree, Tom. I dismissed these based on my early experience with injection versions. I have some hand pour 5" ones with a ribbed head that are killer on Erie and Ontario.
  18. Good advice in the last three posts. Really good advice.
  19. If there aren't shad, there's shiners in there.
  20. PTL makes one that's almost silly looking - it's like 10" long. Looks like a giant willow leaf.
  21. No doubt, some ponds have something going on. One I hit produced two sixes - I know because I caught them. The second one was interesting. I hooked it, and a bigger fish attacked it. It was bigger by a lot. But 10? probably more like 7 or 8. That fish is the only reason I still fish this particular pond, lol.
  22. All my rods are tip heavy without reels - even my Dobyns DX, lol. If the balance point was behind the reel seat, then the rod would become tip heavy with the addition of the reel.
