  1. I'm a CXX man. Despite Hybrid having a fluoro coating, I believe it floats as well.
  2. I like to kill the G2, maybe adding a couple twitches, and then maybe sweep the rod, or start reeling in again. Especially if I see a follower. Flouro sinks, and you'll get a bow in the middle, between you and the bait. I get this "disconnected" feeling that I don't get with a good copoly, like CXX. Speed is right, 15 is probably fine. I just happen to have 20 on that rig, since I throw baits up to about 4 oz.
  3. Snook, you should have been compelled to get a picture of that!
  4. Probably don't need to use backing in a Zebco.
  5. Normally, I'd like to sink any jet ski within five miles of me, but this guy is pretty cool. He's having fun and catching fish.
  6. There's a local that does it all the time on the bay here. He's even got a couple of nice rod holders and a graph.
  7. I would not deck out a 12' boat. Carpet, nice trolling motor, high end electronics, sure. But no deck. Too unstable.
  8. Senko, Siebert Bed Bug jig, Pop-R, pegged beaver, drop shot finesse worm.
  9. I have a couple Teasers, a Sweeper, and the big swim bait rod. Love them, especially the Teasers. (null)
  10. I have occasionally thrown my G2 on my heavy cranker loaded with 15# Tatsu. It sucked. Much prefer my swim bait rod loaded with 20# CXX.
  11. No need for a sinking line for wakes. CXX in 20# size will work fine, if not better than fluoro.
  12. That's a big range of weights to throw with one rod. I use a SC Avid AVC70MM for baits 1/2 oz. and lower. I have a few other MH rated sticks for the heavier stuff. You might find something that works for everything, but nothing I've tried works as well as that Avid for little cranks.
  13. I have to admit, a pile of Saint Croix's with Daiwa reels on them looks good on the deck. That said, some of my favorite rods come from G.Loomis, Pinnacle, Deep South, Dobyns, and Saint Croix.
  14. That's an ECS seat. Both are made by Fuji.
  15. I didn't like the ACS seat when they first came out. It took a little while, but reels have gotten smaller and I actually prefer the seat now.
  16. They're still used in many applications, but not in small game/freshwater circles.
  17. I'll let them sit some more. Nothing yet. If anything, we'll find out what does work. Thanks for raising the issue.
  18. In 20 years? Has to be the multi function graph/scan/sonor/GPS units and the internet. In my lifetime, I'd say graphite rods and braided superlines.
  19. Nothing yet. I'd think it would eat through the styrofoam or sandwich bag first, if at all. I think you have a leaky container.
  20. Just put some full strength in a cheap sandwich meat tub, a takeout container and a generic ziplock sandwich bag. I might have a styrofoam container I could try too. I'll let them sit and see what happens. The stuff is just an alkaline detergent - like dish detergent - so I can't see this being a problem. Non caustic, non solvent, no fumes, biodegradable…can't ask for much more harmless than that.
  21. Never had that happen in the three years Ive been using it. It in fact excels at cleaning plastic parts. For soaking bearings, I use glass jars because it's easier to visually inspect. What type of plastic container was it? And what were you soaking? Be specific.
  22. The centrifugal brakes work to slow the spool rotation because the the shoes that are in the out position rub the brake hub. This turns the energy of the rotating spool to heat, thereby slowing the spool.
  23. I go really slow. Think slow jigging.
  24. Met my girlfriend in jr. high school. Had no idea then that 30 years later she'd be my best friend.
