  1. You stumbled upon a well known secret.
  2. It's a farce. Just marketing. See the Forum Rules and FAQs
  3. Just stick to answering the original question. Any insults, unnecessary attacks, or abusive behavior will result in suspension or banning. It's a simple question - where does he get parts. If you have any other info to help, offer away. Otherwise move on. Jeez.
  4. Depth, cover, activity level. In that order. You have to get the bait to the fish, and once it's there, you have to get them to bite.

  6. Paint your buoys black.
  7. The Picasso School-E Rig is very light. It's a resin head. With 1/8 oz. swimbait jigs, and 3" baits, it's no issue throwing on MH tackle.
  8. On windy days, I use them to mark beds as well. I try to drop it about a foot behind the nest.
  9. Unless the fish is on a scale, and the scale is legible, a picture only captures the moment, and is probably the WORST document for a big catch. Sure, you can ballpark it, but anyone that tells you that they can tell exactly how much a fish weighs from a picture, knows nothing about photography. Perspective can play serious games with how a fish is portrayed in a picture.
  10. I use them. Imagine fishing a mile or so off shore, and nothing along the northern horizon but water. Electronics wil get you there, but it's tough to get pinpoint without a visual aid.
  11. John, have you looked into centre pinning for trout? I've been doing it the past four years, and all but gave up the fly rod. There's a lot less casting involved, and a whole lot more catching.
  12. It's a head scratcher, unless he primarily fishes shallow, off color lakes. Previously, you had to weight the heck out of the bait, and it actually sank to get it down that far. And the Deep Rogue didn't have the same roll, though it's still a good bait. So, you didn't have a ton of time in the zone. The 10 fixes that.
  13. Dude, I have a boat full of fairy wands - remember, I fish the Great lakes.
  14. My experience has been wherever it's near impossible to control the boat, let alone get a cast off in the wind is usually where you should be fishing.
  15. Check out Jeff Little's Draggin' Head jigs. They were designed to solve the issues of tossing a jig in current. http://www.confidencebaits.net/about_us.html
  16. He's using a 2 power Dobyns fairy wand. I bet you're right about the hook and rod not being compatible. Also a good point about the weed guard - I had the same issues with the weed guard version of the Gammies, until I figured that out.
  17. I like to teach kids on moving baits that float, or rise to the surface. Poppers, minnow baits, and divers are good starters. Later, when they get used to the strike, you can teach them the hookset, using a lightly weighted soft plastic worm.
  18. I have an Eyecon 6'3" ML/XF that is virtually identical to the two Avids with the same specs, but have a really nice grip. that's in your range, and don't be thrown because they're marketed as "walleye rods." I assure you, my son has caught plenty of smallmouth on it - they couldn't care less about the name. They come in a longer version as well, I just prefer that length for vertical drop shotting - more control with the smaller rod.
  19. Rubber bands break down real quick in the sun and heat. When it's cold, they lose their elasticity. Hairbands don't suffer either, and last you a whole season.
  20. Just 20 lipless baits
  21. Use a hook with an open gap. If you need a weighted hook, the Jackall Flick Shake hooks are dead on. For unweighted, I do well with Gam. Wide Gap Finesse hooks.
  22. I agree, education comes first, but a "like" translates to a quantifiable "impression" that a sponsor can use to measure the market penetration a particular pro staffer has. That's all he meant, that there is potential to reach several consumers.
  23. I centrepin Lake Ontario and Erie tributaries. Look up the technique on Youtube, there's tons of videos. You just smear a small dab on a Berkley Trout Worm. You can also use JJ's. I used red JJ's to turn a corn colored worm bright orange. I also smeared the worm with Megastrike. There were three fly fishers working the hole before me, to no avail. they laughed at me, called me a knuckle dragging 'pinner. Even said I must be a bass guy, since I had all those tricks. One drift in that hole, and I hooked up. Respect.
  24. You want a sit on top for fishing.
  25. Ronnie Jighead's episodes show this, and he talks about it. You can see a couple fish where the line jumps, but on most, he's just setting the hook based on feeling that "pressure" and a hunch. You get to see some misses too, which is cool. http://www.lunkerville.com/lunkerville1/jighead1.html http://www.lunkerville.com/lunkerville1/jighead2.html
