  1. Just figured that out. It may also be worth while to consider LSS hooked up on the TM. Apparently it's a pretty sick tool for peeking under docks.
  2. What process could possibly turn scrap tires into jigs, spinnerbaits, bullet sinkers, etc? I'm serious, I'd like to hear this one.
  3. These are the guys that show up, and get state laws changed: http://www.tufts.edu/vet/loons/
  4. And the same can be said of some recreational fisherman. Can't paint them all with the same brush - there are jerks in every walk.
  5. They don't ban lead because of "lead levels" in the water, they ban it because of a couple of dead loons.
  6. 5" Grubs.
  7. I can't just get another 'ducer for the kayak?
  8. What I want to do is get the HDS5 fully bundled, and get the basic HDS7 Sonor/GPS. I want to be able to use the 5 on the boat and on the kayak. I'm wondering if I have to buy the bundles for both units, or does Ethernet let you share on both?
  9. 25# P-line CXX has been fine for me, but the rigs I've used are light.
  10. Have you had any on the water time with yours? How about ethernet to another unit? I'm thinking about a 5 on the console and a 7 on the bow.
  11. I'm 40. I started working at 11. Come talk to me after 29 years of real world. Mondays suck.
  12. You mean this fish? I heard it was 9 lbs. on KBF, 11-3 on Facebook, and now 12-8 here. Looks like a dead 6 to me.
  13. Repost from another forum. Mike is a friend of mine. Cusano inducted into the NY State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame On Saturday, February 11, 2012, the Board of Directors of the New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame voted overwhelmingly to accept Michael Cusano’s nomination into the Hall. Michael will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 28, 2012, during the annual banquet in Canastota, NY. Michael’s activities in the Outdoors are numerous and each echoes the theme of the New York State Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame - "IT’S NOT WHAT YOU TAKE, BUT WHAT YOU GIVE". Some of Mike’s volunteer activities include: Working with Junior Anglers Teaching Children from the Salvation Army Barnabus Center to fish Instructional videos on fishing and educational programs Water Chestnut eradication program Cormorant hazing program Bass Live Fish Release Boat Conservation Director New York State B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation Taking a Soldiers Fishing Program Economic Development/Promoting Fishing across the state Vice Chairman, Region 7 DEC Fish and Wildlife Management Board Chairman, Onondaga County Legislature Fisheries Advisory Board; President, New York State B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation, President Salt City Bassmasters; Director/Vice President, Onondaga County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs …just to name a few Join me in saying well deserved Mr Cusano and it's great to see a bass angler get recognized for their efforts
  14. It's just a term, doesn't mean they are garbage. Like "rough fish" in freshwater. It's not literal. Sturgeaon don't react to being played out like Esox. Maybe people really shouldn't fish for them. But the fact remains that people do, and when they ask for advice, we owe it to ourselves to give them the best advice possible. Not some half baked, "I don't care about the resource" response. What you may think you know from 30 years ago is irrelevant now. It's not like catching and mishandling makes them extinct, it makes big fish extinct. By big, I mean 50" musky and 40" northerns. Guys that get good at catching big fish learn better to take care of the fish they catch because they know they are catching one in a million fish, not one of a million fish that Snook is referring to.
  15. You are far, far out of touch with the current state of musky fisheries and musky fishing. These are a far more precious resource than junk fish in salt. I don't doubt that what you do is fun, and I doubt it has any impact to your fishery, but to apply that disregard for conservation with musky is irresponsible, and illegal in some cases. Think of it this way, one 20# musky removed from a system either by harvest or delayed mortality can erase 10 years of overall average growth in a lake. It's simply much more delicate than what you are fishing.
  16. I kind of figured that, Daniel, hence my clarification and link - no prob. I did a patent search as well, and though there is no patent application listed anywhere that I looked, I noticed they list the device as "Patent Pending." I'm a little fuzzy on patent laws as well. Owning a Trademark doesn't afford you all the rights they are claiming either. For instance, I can say Big Mac all I want, and I can give you a Big Mac recipe right here on this forum. I can't sell you that recipe, and I can't use the name for personal gain. Personally, they should be embracing all the free press they get rather than attack people for using the name. Now, I won't buy their version of it, and I sure won't type their name ever again. I refer to it as a multi rig, or castable umbrella rig.
  17. Nothing to "agree to disagree" about. There is no copyright violation. Trademark violation? Maybe. My comments were directed specifically at your comment that the rig or idea can be copyrighted. It cannot.
  18. As long as the rod can handle the total bait weight, and Trolling indeed. Unless you have some relevant advice, this isn't the place for a debate - there are other threads in play for that. This is a simple question with simple opinions for answers. BTW, the rig is cast and retrieved, like any other moving bait, not trolled. jmed, as long as the bait falls in the rod's ratings, and heavy/fast action rod should do the trick. I use a 7-9 H/F swimbait rod.
  19. Uhhh, I was fishing all day Sunday. Monday, I spent 1/2 my waking hours at work. You do the math.
  20. False. Sorry, that just isn't true. The ONLY thing they can copyright would be a written or pictorial description of the rig. Not the idea, the rig, the name, or the process. Period. Everything you need to know about US copyright law is here: http://www.copyright.gov/
  21. Chatterbaits work, but they aren't weedless, rockless, and don't deflect off wood very well, so I mainly use them during early spring and prespawn. They are a good change up to a spinnerbait on bright days, or when there's lot's of fishing pressure.
  22. Got my attention, too. Beautiful browns.
  23. Sloppy spool play is form worn out spool tension shims (Spacer B #664, and Apool Tension Spacer #2224). Flip them, and it'll be like new. Rookie casters usually run their spool tension too tight, nad casting wears them down. Having seen both reels COMPLETELY disassembled side by side, I can confirm theier is no difference mechanically. I don't find either to have different tolerances either. Just a cosmetically different spool and handle, and a new paint job.
