Mounting a Trolling motor
Thanks guys, I have a 1987 Ranger Aztec Bass Boat. And I have a 40 lb thurst foot control trolling motor. It is used and I'm not getting the speed that I want when at the highest setting. I do realize this is a heavy boat and I don't know if 40lbs is enough to push this boat. I see other boat with smaller trolling motor go pass me like I'm standing still, I don't know if it is the motor it self or me.

Mounting a Trolling motor
I'm having a problem mounting my trolling motor. Does the trolling motor have to drop in the center of the boat or off too one side of the boat. I find myself moving sideways a bit instead of moving streight and the boat is pushing water instead of going with the flow. Also, I see a lot of boats with the trolling motor mounted on the left side of the boat and i have mine mounted on right does that make a differance.

Line issue, baitcaster issue, or is it me
I was out fishing today, and I just put knew braided line on my BC's, What I noticed was, when I casted,my line would seem to roll under the spool instead of coming off the spool from the top. Which at that point would bird nest. I let all the line off the spool, wand it back on the spool and got the same problem. Would someone know what causes this. Is it the line, the BC or Me.

Another loading question
I'm glad to see some one else has the same problem as well. I just get a running start with the trolling motor and walk the tonge. I tried firing up the motor once to put the boat on the trailer, I'll never do that again. It cost me 500.00 bucks. When they say elec. only thats what they mean. I can't even have my motor down while trolling. That will cost you 250.00 bucks if caught.

Motor Problems
I have a 77 Ranger Aztec, (Please bear with me) I'm changing over the motor. The problem that I'm having is the steering rod that is attached to the steering wheel does not fit into the shift of the motor. I can get about an inch of the rod into the shift but thats it. Does anyone know if I have to bore out the hole in the shift or do i have to push a little harder. Thanks

jon boat mods
I did the same thing to my 14 ft jon boat came out great. Here is a site that I used to get started. http://www.sofnet.com/~robertg/boat.htm. There are a few more out there that you can use as well. I forget the names now, but if you type in your search box, "from jon boat to bass boat", a host of websites would come up. Any questions, please email me.

Installing an outboard
Need a little help! I have a 77 Ranger that didn't come with a motor. I just got a motor off of ebay, but have no idea how to install it. I have mounted the motor to the transom, now I need to know how to hook everything up. Forgive me, I know nothing about this subject, I need to know how to hook up the gas line, the turning rod, the tilt thing and how to center the motor on the boat. I have a 1971 Merc. 50 hp. Its a pull start but I have controls. Thanks

Loading alone for the beginner
Everyone gave some good ideas. But here's what I do when I'm alone. (which is a lot) Get a 25 foot rope or so. (longer if you need it) Unhook the boat, tie one end of the rope to the hull and the other end to the rear of the trailer. Back the trailer into the water and let the boat float off, (I end up pushing or pulling it off) pull the trailer out of the water just enough that you don't get wet, Remember to go slow the boat will follow,( but if you have enough rope the boat will float towards the lake) but you have 25 feet, untie the boat from the back of trailer, tie the boat off and park the auto and trailer. As for loading, if you have a drive on trailer, (I don't) once the trailer is in the water, drive the boat onto the trailer about 3 to 4 feet from the wench, reach out grab the wench strap and hook up, crawl down the tongue to your car crank it up, pull it out. Since I don't have a drive on trailer, thats what I do. Hoped I helped

Help with bass boat
Good evening, I was given a bass boat and I no nothing about bass boats. It's not new or anything, but I have no clue whats going on. I need alittle help on the basics on operating it. Like filling the live wells, is the water from the lake pumped into the live wells, or do I have to get a bucket and fill it. Now I'm use to jon boats, that I made into somewhat of a bass boat, so does a bass boat have a drain plug that I have to be worried about. There are a lot of swiches that I have no clue what they do. Can someone give me a quick course in bass boats 101, before i kill myself or someone else. Thank you
