  1. Thanks all for the fish comment I want to say that nothing is like a top water strike, because you can see how violent it is I love it. Jitterbug, pop-r and now the spro frog, and the bass are hitting right now too
  2. Nice catch! Although I do not believe you need that extra hook with these frogs, the hookup ratio is pretty good, but that's a pretty cool idea you got there. How did you rig that up? I dont know if it will work or not!! I used a short leader with 20lbs test line, tied to the front of the frog and the other to the eye of the hook (3/0 gamakatsu finesse wide gap). I hooked it into the top-middle of the frog, with the point of the hook coming out the top-back. I will post pic later if I catch a fish on it.
  3. Thanks all The fish was 16 inches, but it was heart-stopping when he attacked the frog!!
  4. I just got a spro popper last week and got great result with it yesterday. I was afraid to loose fish so I went and put a hook on top of the frog's body. The fish I got was hooked on the main hook for some reason, I am glad though. All in all I love the frog, cast great, good hook up, and will be one of the new tool for fishing
  5. I too love the top water bite, nothing like a hidden bass coming out to destroy a jitterbug!!!! Another one would be seeing bass attacking a crankbait. Like yesterday I was reeling in shallow diving rebel crawfish, I was cranking it almost close to shore when a good sized bass was following it, I stopped the lure, and he proceeded to swallow it and the fight was on
  6. Topwaterbassin you got a pm.
  7. Thank you very much Firefightn, I will try that.
  8. I have 2 of the P series medium heavy casting rod from Arcadia. I can tell you that their customer service is top notch, and the tip is very sensitive, but the rod is somewhat unreliable. First off the ceramic rings are very fragile, they can be cracked easily and fall out of the metal guides. Secondly, the tail-end of the cork handle can break off after about 3 months of use. I would like to see them improve on the quality of their rods a bit more.
  9. I would like to get some help in opening up the reel to add some extra lubrication to the gears. I have the Quantum energy Pt baitcaster. Thanks in advance
  10. Hahaha not to hijack the thread or anything but I thought I was being original with the Ghost minnow color cavitron I Bought the white one at dicks and switched out the white with the emeral green skirt from booyah Very effective I'll tell ya!!!
  11. I have to say that the Cavitron is one great bait, I love throwing it when bass are busting on shads.
  12. You can put a splitshot weight at the end of the rig and just lift and drop it. They are great for catching schooling shads ;D once you have one fish hooked dont take him off, let him run with it and soon you will hook a few more.
  13. #2 also but in my case I got it back by tugging hard on it, then the lure went flying at my face and as I turned to avoid the darn thing one of the hook got embedded on the side of my head
  14. I have had the daiwa procaster 100h for over 2 years and it is still smooth and reliable. You can find one for about 60 bucks.
  15. Wow, what a story... Thanks for the pictures and lucky you did not get hurt!!
  16. I had two of these in the past and they would do the same thing as yours... Just send it back to daiwa, its a flaw in the design.
  17. I went to the daiwa website and saw this reel:http://daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?ID=466 Its been updated with 11 bearings and 7.1:1 ratio. I might get this one and hope that it will be more reliable than the last one.
  18. I got something cheaper for you, I love mine : http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0012971013780a&navCount=11&podId=0012971&parentId=cat90003&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat20166-cat90003&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat90003&hasJS=true
  19. Oh man hahaha I had the same thing happened to me over the weekend ;D I pulled the lure from the tree branch and it came flying at my face, I turned my head on the side and one of the hook went into the side of my head Took about 5 min. to get it unstuck... Anyways nice story
  20. They have the Field and Stream IM6 casting rod at Dicks for 24.99. Oh and to CHANROCKS93 , DO NOT buy the daiwa megaforce reel!! I have had 2 that would not even engage the spool after about 2 months of use, trust me.
  21. Quantum Energy Pt baitcasting reel at $94.99 a piece. Heres a better deal: go online and google for Dickssportinggoods 15 dollars coupon, print it out and get an even better discount
  22. They are quite fun to raise Especially at feeding time.
  23. I am in the same boat as you Bayou Bass... I got my first fish yesterday on a jig, needless to say I am happy and a lilttle confident now. I went with a baby bitsy bug and zoom super chunk jr. In black and blue color. Just throw it out close to the grass edge and shake it when it hits the botttom. Make sure to keep the line semi-tight to check for the classic thump thump. If you see that line veer to right or left set the hook hard!!!
  24. "Here fishy fishy, eat up this is good for you ;D" as I'm reeling in.
