  1. Resident annual husband and wife has been $26, but there's talk of a price increase for 2011. License year starts April 1.
  2. I have tried Pro-Cure Nightcrawler/Garlic and Crawfish/Garlic. It's not so strong a scent as JJ's and it's kind of expensive, IMHO. I wouldn't buy it again...don't see that it does anything that JJ's and/or MegaStrike don't already do for me.
  3. TW must have pulled them because the link no longer works and a search of Berkley produces nothing about the Havoc baits.
  4. Those spools look wider than the STX's I have...yes or no? How do they keep the weight so low?
  5. Got schooled pretty good on one outing last year by a friend using a 6" white ribbontail worm on the back of a white/chartreuse swimjig. Getting schooled by him was nothing out of the ordinary, he always catches more fish than I do, but that was the first time I ever saw that particular setup. Needless to say, I have some white 6" ribbontail worms to go with my white/chartreuse swimjigs for this season. I'm an old dog, but still trying to learn new tricks. ;D
  6. 7.1 for me. You can always not use all the speed you have, but you can never use speed you don't have.
  7. To me, reels like the Extreme are not worth the trouble and expense to upgrade. If an upgrade of the Extremes is necessary for you to enjoy using them, I'd be inclined to sell them and get something you're happy with.
  8. I can understand it in a tournament where pounds are all that matter, but I don't get it in a recreational fishing situation. Where's the fun in dragging in 10 lbs. of weeds with a fish unable to swim because of all those weeds?
  9. From my experience, the Palomar is the best knot for fluorocarbon, so long as you remember to moisten it before drawing it tight.
  10. NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, disassemble a reel without a schematic available, unless of course, you've done one enough to know it inside and out.
  11. I have used the original Tuf-Line and the Tuf-Line XP. I experienced nothing with either of them that would keep me from buying some more. They both cast well, have proven to hold up well under extensive use and come in colors I can see. IMHO, money well spent.
  12. Rage Tail Chunk or Baby Rage Tail Craw. Color usually to coordinate with the jig, but not always.
  13. How long until the guy gets out of the hospital? ;D
  14. T rigged 3" stick worm with as light a weight as I can get away with. This rig has always produced, but the reason I don't use it unless I have to is it produces mostly small fish. Small ones are better than none, but they're not the reason I'm out there, so the big fish presentations get priority until they prove unproductive for that day.
  15. Ragetail Craw and Baby Ragetail Craw have both been good producers for river Smallies. They work well rigged by themselves or as a jig trailer, including swim jigs.
  16. 4" tube from any one of several manufacturers.
  17. It's HAVOC, not HAVCO and now we have 3 separate threads all talking about the new Berkley baits...hope they're worth all the hub bub. :-/
  18. If your relationship with the bait monkey is anything like mine, you never really beat the bait monkey. Every once in a while though, he'll give you back a little of what he's taken. ;D
  19. It's not so much the endorsement of a product by a pro that interests me. However, when I read that a pro, or someone who's opinion I value, has had some success using a particular bait, I usually will give it a try if it seems to make sense for how I fish.
  20. I have several empty spools I keep for just this purpose. I hand wind the braid off my reel onto one empty spool, then hand wind it from the first spool onto another empty spool. From there, simply rewind it back onto the reel. Sounds like way more trouble than it actually is...takes about 10 minutes maybe 15 minutes tops. Time well spent considering the cost of braided line.
  21. I have bought a number of items from Bass Team Tackle, including tungsten weights...good guys and quick service.
  22. We fish them on a Titleshot jig from Fin-tech...works very well and doesn't tear up the baits so much as Texas rigging tends to do.
