Taking on water-- but from where?
I own a 1991 ProCraft 180 Stalker bass boat, which has just recently (the last two trips to the lake) begun to take on water inside the hull while on the lake. There are no holes in the hull, and neither rain nor wash over the bow/stern/gunnels has occurred which would explain it. My current thinking is that the hoses which run to the livewells have dry-rotted and are leaking water into the hull, under the deck. Short of removing the batteries and gas tank, is there a good way to access the livewell connections under the rear deck? Can anyone tell me whether the aft dry-storage bins are easily removable, which might allow me access? What about the front livewell? I can't figure out how to get under the front deck to check out the connections there- Any assistance would be appreciated- Thanks

My 1991 Procraft is 18ft, and I would not want 4 adults in it...........

Used Plastics - Keep or Toss?
I'll usually keep them unless they are really badly damaged. Even if you have to tear a worm in half, for example, you could use it as a trailer on a jig or spinnerbait/chatterbait, etc.

Kiffin to USC
Ummmm, no. Fulmer found himself in an evolving conference with new thoughts, new coaches, and new, more aggressive philosophies. Fulmer was a good coach- heck, still is a good coach. BUT, he does not have the mindset/psyche that it takes to bring a team to the field that can inspire the respect that UT ball once brought throughout the SEC. It's a different game now. Saban, Meyer, Miles...the list goes on- for the Vols to return to an SEC power, they need to find someone aggressive and willing to take things to the next level. By the way, Tennessee played two #1 ranked teams this year, Florida and Alabama-- and UT lost them both, but by only 13 points COMBINED (IIRC). Thats pretty good last I checked.

Kiffin to USC
No, it was time for Fulmer to go. I echo this sentiment. Fulmer was awesome at getting a lead and letting the the defense go into a 'bend but dont break', prevent defense, where the score could be a respectable 32-27. That does not work in today's SEC. I don't know who we'll end up with, but from the AD's press conference today, it sounds like we'll know by Sunday..... :-/

Pellet guns and FPS
I don't see what one has to do with the other. So you're an advocate of people buying guns, but not understanding how powerful they are, and what they are capable of? I was just curious. To someone that doesn't know much about airguns, fps don't really mean much other than the higher the #, faster it goes. I see they range from 200-1200+, trying to make the right decision, and pick up the one that will be right. Nothing wrong with educating myself a little in the process. no, you should know about your gun. what i said was in regards to this statement "Is there some kind of general rule, like 100fps won't go through paper, 200 will leave a small welt, 700 will penetrate skin, etc?" I agree with .dsaavedra- you should know about it and educate yourself. However, I think one of the reasons you are getting some people recommending a higher fps rating is because you mentioned you might do a bit of hunting with the gun. If you want to hunt, a higher fps capacity will give you more penetration and impact power at the target, and, assuming you train yourself to shoot the weapon accurately, result in a quick, clean kill. As far as rating fps in terms of capacity for damage, as you mentioned, I'm not sure that you'll be able to find that -

My vote for a replacement is Bill Cowher.

Pellet guns and FPS
I have a Gamo Big Cat 1200 that I bought from BPS a few months ago. If you use regular lead pellets, it is supposed to travel at @1000fps-- although, if you use some of the high-density pellets, you are supposed to be able to get over 1200 fps. The problem with getting that fast is that its loud, like a .22. On the other hand, I bought mine to take out some encroaching groundhogs. Once I got the scope sighted in, it took care of them nicely. 8-) If you look them up on BPS/Cabelas, etc, you'll find ratings and comments.

Kiffin to USC
ummm. aren't you a Tenn fan? And you are not happy about this? I won't speak for anyone else, but yes, Vol fans (me) would be quite disappointed at this. Think about it- after the season the Vols just had- not brilliant, but hopeful and progressing (after what we came out of)- to go back to the drawing board again sucks. I'm not a Lane Kiffin flag holder, but he's done some promising things for the program and players. What really bites is that he's going to undermine recruiting 10-fold, I believe, especially if he's taking Monte and Orgeron with him. The Vols could have been back in the mix in a year or two-- who knows now. Really stinks.

Revo SX Problem
I ordered a Revo SX from a seller on eBay, and it arrived today. It does appear very nice, but for whatever reason, the reel handle will not turn- its as if something is 'bound up', and it wont budge. Is there something I'm not doing correctly? Maybe someone has had this happen to them and knows how to rectify the issue? I'm pretty sure the seller will be OK with me returning it, but I was hoping to give the reel a fair shake if it can be easily fixed-

Some good deals at Academy
Dicks has just as much stuff as Academy. Normally at the same price. The Dicks here has a selection that is one step up from Wal-mart. That's not good. The one here has just about any lure you could want. A good selection of good rods. The only thing that is lacking is reels. The problem you are running in to with dicks and the main reason people want academy is the H2O line of baits. You will not find those anywhere but academy. Unless you can get lucky on ebay. Bingo!^^^^^^^

Lowrance HDS7 or 8-Which to Buy?
I can't remember if it is on the 7 or the 8, but starting with one of those you have the touch-screen scroll bar on the bottom of the display. The Structure Scan add-on should work with any of the HDS units, from what I've read. The Lake Insight feature is worth it- you have the option of substituting a navionics chip, but I think the Lake Insight is pretty good, and unless you are really hard-core and a tournament angler, its probably all you'll need. I have it on my HDS5 and I like it a lot.

Some good deals at Academy
You are right... excellent deals this year! Better than last year, I think. I stock up at Academy this time of year. I also got a 5 piece lipless set for $10, as well as a 5 pc jointed swimbait and 5 pc jointed shad sets for $29 each on Black Friday

B.A.S.S Lifetime Membership
Well said. Make up your own mind- I know you said a lifetime fishing license was one of your deciding factors. Whatever works for you. I like both BASS and FLW. But, I like them both for very different reasons. Both are useful.

EWG treble hooks
I lost a big fish last year this same way, using a medium action rod - it was a good hookset, and I played it well- but I lost it once it got to the boat and dove hard. Drag too tight. Lesson learned for me.

C- rigging double baits
I've been interested lately in trying to fish a C-rig with double plastic baits. I've read articles where anglers will tie them with the likes of a 3-way swivel, with different leader lengths, so I have a good idea of the mechanics- What I'm wondering is, how does one keep the 2 leaders from getting tangled up with each other on the cast and sink of the lures? Maybe I worry too much about that? If anyone with experience doing this would be willing to share their thoughs, it would be appreciated-

Old Hickory lake help???
Check this COE website for temps and general conditions: http://www.lrn.usace.army.mil/pao/lakeinfo/OLD.htm The water temp has remained pretty stable, especially considering how late in the year its getting and the number of fronts that have come through. If all else fails, go shallow on Old Hickory......

Bypassing the mixing system and adding the oil directly to the gas is exactly what I do on my older Merc.

Lowrance HDS System question..
X2 I just got an HDS 5 / Lake Insight on my boat as well. My brother and I took it out on a trip to Guntersville a week ago for the first time, and it definitely did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the GPS and Lake Insight features.......the unit guided us right to a stump field with Lake Insight, and looking on the sonar, sure enough, there they were. Really cool units if you ask me. My only regret is that my budget did not allow for a larger unit.

Guntersville Report Needed
Hi folks- Can anyone give me an idea of current Guntersville water level and water temp? There has been a ton of rain in the area, and the TVA website says the dam will be spilling- just wondering if the water was up over the banks, and if temp was holding steady arouond 70-ish Any info would be appreciated-

ethenol free gas brands
In Nashville, the Kwik-Sak/Marathon stations *advertise* that they have ethanol free fuel. With my boat, I get gas there when possible, with hopes that it actually is ethanol free. I still add Stabil Marine ethanol formula though. I don't get how refineries/manufacturers can sell ethanol free stuff- isn't there some gov't mandate that controls fuel manufacturing? How do these other guys get around it, or better yet, why aren't there more stations that offer ethanol free fuel?
