  1. Lizards, Craws, Worms, Tubes......basically anything you would Texas Rig with a pegged sinker.....same principle here. The hooks are pretty strong as previously posted. Might try jamming inside a 4" tube until the eye comes out and tie on that way......be suprised at the action it will give the tube.
  2. I usually pull the crazy legs off.
  3. Swimbaits......been fishing them for years now......mine are called Sassy Shads.
  4. There is no such thing as "too much tackle".
  5. Been fishing the Owner Twist Lock hooks for several years now, both the weighted and original. Just got my first order of Moaner Hooks in the mail and I'm certainly impressed. Got a Free Shipping coupon also for my next order. Look like some great hooks with a decent twist lock, not a centering pin, but for the price difference I'll live.
  6. You have a Fenwick.....they are definitely overrated. I have a med/lt spinning HMG 6'6" that I use for almost all my bass fishing with spinning gear. It can handle what you're talking about. I'd recommend staying with the Fenwick brand. Haven't used an Avid spinner but I own a BC 7' MH that is as the others have stated.
  7. You're awesome Catt!
  8. Nope not Renosky.....it's a Burke. Just sold one in a lot on Ebay. Amazingly I didn't actually catch that many fish on it. It's amid-80's model made by Burke before Creme bought them out. The grasshopper is a Burke also. I think the Spook and Rat are Mann's. All are mid 80's though.
  9. Anyone know where I can get some like this without paying the high shipping costs? Tackle Warehouse has the Tru-Turn Hitchiker, that's the kind I'm looking for.
  10. Anyone have a BC and can report on it yet?
  11. Awesome! Thanks POPRG.
  12. Xcalibur and Excaliber baits are different I believe aren't they?
  13. I've actually thought about using a small barrel swivel in the same way that the extra split ring is being used in the above pic.
  14. All theirs are great baits.
  15. All good advice and lure recommendations. Don't forget a Mann's Baby 1 Minus in Chrome/Black Back either. Also in-line spinners, Baby Rage Craws, 3" grubs, and weightless texas rigged lizards......especially when the water first starts warming up.
  16. That's good to know smalljaw. I guess my real question is and probably should have been......is there a real difference in the two other than shape?
  17. Can these two type lures be fished in the same situations. I have several Norman Thin N that are coffin billed baits. I catch fish on them consistently but have never really tried them in rocks or timber. Will they perform as well as my square bills in that situation?
  18. Didn't work out very well. Tried a couple of variations.....just no luck with a regular EWG hook. I think a swimbait or jig hook would work better for this.
  19. The crosslock snaps would be my choice also.
  20. Check this one out. Jika using a snap to the weight. Got this pic from the web. I like the idea.
  21. I've been making up Jika Rigs for a couple weeks now. Just doing a few at a time while I'm sitting at my desk after work and such, even started a thread here on the rig. Never even thought of using a casting sinker for a tube insert application. Like everyone else I've ALWAYS had a hard time getting the hook point into the eyelet of the inserted casting weight. I have found that if you don't hit it that the hook if inserted and rigged "tex-posed" will hold the weight inside the tube ok and you will still get a spiral fall. So it got me to thinking......how about inserting round split shot in varying sizes and rig the tube the same way. Just use those that are large enough to hold slightly against the inside tube wall, not the itty bitty ones. So I have some now but haven't gotten to try them out yet, I figure they will work and even may cause a slightly different spiral on each cast. I also purchased some cheap lead egg weights in the 1/4 and 1/8 oz. sizes to try the same technique with. I have figured out that this won't work unless the EWG hook is inserted completely throught the tube and then pulled back aginst the tube and skin hooked....i.e, texposed, just like in the Phantom Hook instructions in this thread. Any of you tube guys think this will work? EDIT: I have some Gammy EWG Superline 2/0 that I'm going to rig Jika style with some of the casting weights I have and try them out inside a 3 1/2" Coffee Tube. I'll see about maybe posting some pics when I finish. I've got about five different sizes of the weights to play with.
  22. On 2-20 I fell at work from out of the delivery truck and turned my knee pretty bad. Muddled through and on 2-27 felt like I had it licked.....back at 100%. But when I got up on Tuesday I could hardly put weight on it. Turns out I tore the meniscus and quite probably now the ACL. Doc thinks I turned on it wrong while sleeping Monday night and finished it off. Will get MRI one day this week to be sure but I believe I will probably miss most of the spring fishing here this year....that's really disappointing. I've been clearing out, organizing, and aquiring new gear and was to be off 4 days next week during the full moon to get a real start on the pre-spawn. Good part is it still qualifies as a work related injury so all medical will be taken care of. Hate it but I should be back up and running and gunning after a couple of months.
  23. Rage Craw Baby Brush Hog Rage Lizard
  24. Awesome! That bug looks lethal.
  25. Got some made up. About 20 so far. Hooks are Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp.....5/0, 3/0, and 1/0. Weights are 1/2 oz., 3/8, 3/16, and 1/8. #2 split ring to the hook and #1 to the weight.
